2009 Formula 3 wins[edit]

In the paragraph discussing the 2009 season in Formula 3, the article states that "Chilton took two race wins in the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão"; however, the 2009 British Formula Three season article shows that both Algarve races were won by Jules Bianchi and that Chilton won only the last race. Rentzepopoulos (talk) 00:03, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I think the wording is unintentionally dubious. Although Bianchi won both those races, he was inelegible to score points. Chilton, who was entitled to score points, was classified as the winner because he was the first driver elegible to score. The "two race wins" in the body of the article probably refer to his win in the second race and his overall win in the second race at Brands Hatch. This could easily be fixed with a re-wording of the article, such as this:
Chilton took two race wins during the season; the first at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, and the second in his final Formula Three race at Brands Hatch.
I don't think an explanation of how drivers are elegible or inelegible to score points is needed. Chilton is recognised as the race winner and received all the points the race winner would receive, even though he was the third driver to finish. 2012 Race results section[edit]

I'm removing this because Max didn't race in 2012. Marussia was Glock and Pic in 2012.Jasphetamine (talk) 21:58, 4 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your change - it is WP:F1 convention to include seasons in which a driver participated in official practice sessions as a "third driver", as Chilton did at the 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix - see the "2006" row of Sebastian Vettel's F1 results table as an example. You are correct. Good revert. Jasphetamine (talk) 20:39, 5 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
