Should this article be merged with the Malaysian Open article? I believe both articles correspond to the same championship. Is there a reason in particular that it should be considered otherwise? PwilliamQ99 23:09, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

They are considered two separate tournaments. See [1], which states "The Maybank Championship, which began in 2016, was the third different official European Tour event to be staged in Malaysia. The other two were the Malaysian Open (1999-2015) and Iskandar Johor Open (2011)."
