Maybole also won The Vernon Trophy in 1962 or 63. The final was played at the ground of Ardrossan Winton Rovers in Ardrossan. This I believe was the first trophy won by Maybole Juniors FC and well do I remember it as the supporters' bus stopped in Irvine enroute back to Maybole so that the men on the bus could have a pint. I was only 14 or 15 and this was my introduction to alcohol.
