Change in Per Capita - Reader Request[edit]

Whoever put this data together likely has more familiarity with the source data. That's why I'm requesting if possible to add a change in per-capita. I always believe that numbers should have meaning and knowing which states have growth or loss tells a much more interesting story. Perhapse since this is 2016 data, which is fairly recent, when updated for 2017 the prior numbers can remain in place. Pew Forum - U.S. Religious Landscape Survey[edit]

Did anyone happen to notice how close the numbers are from the Pew Forum and the church's official statistics. Self identified members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints make up 1.6% of the US population according to the report - see http://religions.pewforum.org/affiliations. At 300,300,000 estimated Americans at the end of 2007 (see http://www.census.gov/popest/national/NA-EST2007-01.html). That means Pew estimates that there are 4,820,800 members of the LDS church - not too far from the church reported figure of 5,779,316. However the Pew estimates are only for adults so that means that there are about 3,643,500 adults over 18 that are self identified members of the LDS church. External links in table[edit]

State names in the table are linked to external advocacy sites. This seems to be a bit in contradiction to wikipedian practice. Table attribution missing[edit]

Normally that is the case, but this is Wikipedia, and users have updated many if not all the statistics to more current data. I am unsure what the exact date is for these new stats.Dmm1169 (talk) 19:56, 10 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Format of Tables[edit]

Last month MrKIA11 created Template:LDS Stat Row and applied it to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints membership statistics. I like the format of that template as it simplifies the editing of the table. Its easier to use and easier to add, remove, rearrange columns than a traditional table. And one doesn't have to carefully count columns to know what field he/she's editing like one has to do on a traditional table.

Earlier this year I created individual templates for each state that could be used in both this page and in the infoboxes on the individual LDS in [state] pages, similar concept to what the LDS temple pages uses. The problem with the LDS in [state] templates is that there has to be a template for each state. Some fields in the infobox is not used in the table and vice versa, and it's currently not used in any other pages than this page and the LDS in [state] page.

Consequently I want to eventually abandon use of the LDS in state templates and use Template:LDS Stat Row a new but similar template for the membership table (ie Template:LDS Stat Row2 but with added survey data columns). I want to get feedback from others prior to doing this. It maybe a month or so before I can get around to implement this change. Feel free to make the change ahead of time if you feel inclined to do so. In the meantime, I want feedback on what should be included and with the format of the tables.
