A "Manhattan suburb"? Please.

The wording now is NYC suburb, and there's definitely nothing wrong with that

Page move from Mendham[edit]

Before anyone else decides that I have some agenda to push forward, here's why I moved this page from Mendham, New Jersey to Mendham Borough, New Jersey: if you go on the US Census Bureau website, and search for towns named Medham in NJ, you will see that there's actually no town with the name Mendham, New Jersey – only Mendham Borough, New Jersey and Mendham Township, New Jersey. The Census is not a reliable source on this; but I agree that Mendham Borough should be disambiguated from Mendham Township. Septentrionalis 23:09, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note regarding how the Census lists geographic names: If the word is not capitalized, it is not part of the name, but rather the type of geographic entity. For example Atlantic City is listed by the Census as "Atlantic City city". --Polaron | Talk 23:41, 16 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't care what the census said. The NJ Municipal Data Book and every other source I have seen lists this as Mendham Borough, so capped. If Mendham were unambiguous, we could shorten, as with Red Bank, New Jersey; but it isn't. Septentrionalis 00:08, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To clarify the Names of the Mendhams one must understand the quirks of Names in the State of NJ. The names of legal towns, townships or municipalities is seperate from the names of US postal locations. There are two different legal bodies; Mendham Borough and Mendham Township. Each has it's own mayor, council, police department, fire departments, school system, etc. Everyone in Mendham Borough has the US Postal address of Mendham, Mendham Township, which is a horshoe around the borough could have US postal addresses of Mendham, Brookside, Morristown and a few have Randolph. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.242.148.235 (talk) 14:20, 27 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
