Now The Mercedes-Benz Classes[edit]

Actually, an Acura TL now would be in the same league as an E-Class, like the RL is to the CLS-Class. The TL is pricier than entry-level luxury cars, and is Acura's version of the popular Lexus ES. TL is a midsize, and RL is a lower fullsize. The CLS-Class is a lower fullsize, same to the RL, and both would be in the same league as a Lexus GS. The higher fullsize car from Mercedes-Benz, as we know is the S-Class (whose rival is the Lexus LS). The TL is more expensive than the ES, but is actually almost identical in length to the current E-Class. And the Acura TSX is longer than BMW 3 Series, Lexus IS or Mercedes-Benz C-Class, because they're entry-levels. Many know the 3 Series is more expensive than the C-Class, but those would be the TSX's main competitors. -- Bull-Doser 01:26, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Acura has nothing either priced near or comparable to the CLS, which is the essential equivalent to a BMW 650Ci with four doors. The RL is sized and priced right alongside other V6 luxury sedans, like the GS300 but much less expensive than the CLS, which starts at $15,000 more. Position within the brand is less important than price in determining compeitition. IFCAR 01:48, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
MSN Autos lists the CLS-Class's competitors the RL & GS. -- Bull-Doser 02:28, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
They're welcome to say what they please. That doesn't make them accurate and/or worth copying. IFCAR 13:22, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The CLS is a personal luxury car, or at least a creation very close to that. The CLS is not similar to the RL or GS as both are sedans. Yes the CLS has four doors but if you look at the MB web-site its called a coupe. Bsedies it is to upmarket to be similar to the GS and to sporty to compete with the LS and other sedans like it. The CLS is truly unique MB creation. Regards, Signaturebrendel 16:50, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

W210[edit]

I have noticed that the first generation infobox belongs to the W210, that however, is incorrect the E-Class started before the W210 with the W124. Before the round "google-eyed" designed there was a much more angular vehicle also called the E-Class, the W124. Best Regards, Signaturebrendel 16:50, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article tries to derive the E-Klasse lineage from the W120 - what's your opinion on that? Also, how about the W123? I think it was the first "mid-size" Mercedes to bear the "E" badging (although it did not stand for E-Klasse at that time). Bravada, talk - 07:00, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

use as a taxi in the uk?[edit]

can anyone confirm this? i'm aware that such cars are commonly used as taxis in norway, but i don't believe i've seen many (if any) serving that purpose in the uk. hackney cabs are predominant in cities, or skodas for minicabs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.11.63.194 (talk) 09:43, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It Depends on how the taxi system opperate in the area. Where I live the majority of Taxis are Mercs.(Morcus (talk) 19:34, 8 July 2008 (UTC))[reply]

BRABUS E V12[edit]

There was a mistake in the link in "Brabus EV12" the link on "once again a modified E class" was linking to an article about the Brabus Rocket and not the Brabus E V12, they're not the same cars, deleted the link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RƎVS (talkcontribs) 19:00, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Top photo[edit]

Hello, i have changed the top photo yesterday with the current version of the E-Class (W212), but the user IFCAR put the old photo again, i think its better to have the current one in the top.

Thx for attention! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Setita (talkcontribs) 11:08, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please familiarize yourself with image standards at WP:CARPIX: "The image selected for an article's top (lead) infobox does not need to show any particular version or generation of the vehicle, such as the latest, the last, the first, the best-selling, or any other. Vehicle production date is not a factor when determining the quality of an image and its suitability to illustrate the lead infobox."
The production range in the top infobox in this article is listed as "1984-present." That means that infobox can be suitably illustrated by any E-Class from 1984 to the present, and the best photos of the E-Class over the years are not yet of the latest model. IFCAR (talk) 13:48, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Yeah its true that in WP:CARPIX: the point 5 explain what you said about the car version but the photo i took don't break any of the rules of the photo standards, we can see all the car in a correct position, good lighting, no objects disturbing or in the middle of the photo, good quality, etc. Setita (talk) 14:29, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it's a good photo, but it's not Wikipedia's best existing photo of an E-Class. The best E-Class photo available is what should be in the top infobox, whether or not you prefer to have it be the current version. IFCAR (talk) 14:39, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

- Well, then leave it as it is. The discuss can be deleted. Setita (talk) 14:56, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copy and paste edit[edit]

Dearly200 continues to put a list of minor specs and features on various automobiles that appear to be a copy and paste edit (see here). This is probably against both WP:COPYVIO and WP:LISTCRUFT. I am deleting again, further discuss can be done here before readding. Thanks, Alanraywiki (talk) 07:39, 9 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You are correct in deleting this material. Wikipedia is not a sales brochure. Thanks! CZmarlin (talk) 15:52, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

more information and citation to E63 section[edit]

I noticed that the E63 section needs more information and citation for the article. I have added some to the article. Tianyu10 (talk) 12:58, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

W124 Launch Date[edit]

I really feel that the timeline is very important regarding the W124, as the car was revealed in November 1984 and media reveal occurred. However, there is a major difference between media being shown pre-production models and some press information, against an actual car being available at a dealership or purchasable by a customer. Like the W201 190 until early 1983, no one in this world ever owned a W124 until January 1985. Thus, this car was NOT released in 1984. The first production units were not available January 1985 for Western Europe, North America until November 1985 for the 1986 model year. I believe this is important, as it has been a rather tall tale out of forgetful ignorance, that the W124 was of availability in 1984, merely because MB unveiled at the end of that calendar year. Similar goes for the W201 and W126 S in some aspects. Personally, I am making it my mission to ensure every car article on Wikipedia has a strongly defined and well summarized timeline. I want to open discussion on whether the timeline for the W124 should be based on either, start of production (November 1, 1984), media reveal date (November 26, 1984), or market launch date in 1985.--Carmaker1 (talk) 04:27, 16 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Name in the 70-s[edit]

What was it called in the Seventies? I don't think it was called "mid-size" or "executive". The 190 (compect Mercedes, C-Class) did not exist yet, and the E-Class (the term did not yet exist) was an entry-level Mercedes. So what was the contemporary name? "Entry-level Mercedes"? "Regular Mercedes"? --85.249.47.235 (talk) 06:12, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
