What Would Happen

"What Would Happen" song by itself is not about adultery with a priest, although that was the interpretation presented in the music video. Shadowhillway 00:02, August 31, 2005 (UTC)

Gold Circle

The closing of Gold Circle in 2002 caused Meredith to return early from her tour with Mellissa Etheridge, but it didn't prevent the tour. Michael Lee 01:13, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

I thought she

never told her age and birth date.

AMG lists her birthday as June 12, 1958. 75.2.248.46 (talk) 04:40, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

I personally knew Meredith all through the 1980s. I was under age going into Eli's and the Last Hurrah, and she was not underage. I would put 1958 as an accurate year.Markosjal (talk) 15:39, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

Bec Hollcraft

Seems like a shameless plug to me--it's not even a page on Wikipedia, just a link directly to her promotional website. SCPM08 14:48, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Bec Hollcraft link used to be a WP red link but (IIRC) I changed it to her site. Brooks herself talks about Hollcraft under the 11/09/05 entry. • Shadowhillway 03:16, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Alanis Morissette and Meredith Brooks

quote: "In the wake of the enormous success of Alanis Morissette in 1995, Brooks landed a major label contract with Capitol Records." Where is the connection between Alanis Morissette and Meredith Brooks? I don't get it. --Gaddezwerch (talk) 15:15, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

I was wondering exactly the same thing! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.225.146.92 (talk) 04:12, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Are you all being sarcastic? She copied alanis' style, voice, themes, and even some lyrics[citation needed]...to capatilize on the MASSIVE success alanis was having during the time. Numerous sites even think that Alanis wrote the song "bitch" because Brooks ripped her off so badly. (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=i%27m+a+bitch&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g10) I have nothing against brooks... i even bought her CD back then. I'm just saying it was an obvious situation where a record exec most likely green-lighted the album ONLY because of alanis' success. And, it's possible brooks tweaked the song to ride Alanis' coat tails also. Nobody will ever know for sure - but it's similarity is undenyable. Alanis talks about the legions of "angry female singers" that suddenly appeared after she was massively successful. Most didn't make it... but Brooks has done other things so in the long run she was successful . Angelatomato (talk) 23:59, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
There is no "copying" anyone's style on Meredith's part. The first time I heard "Bitch" I knew it was Merdith's, style, voice and guitar. While first hearing it on MTV I was not watching, but I looked to see who it was and when I saw the images of Meredith (Amazing how people can change in LA) I did not think it was her, but when the credit came up at the end of the video it was in fact her. You see I knew Meredthith long before I ever heard of Alanis. In fact I made the Video "Meredith Brooks and the Angels of Mercy Live at the Starry Night" , which Meredith had asked me for years to make a video for her. There is also some incorrect information in terms of timeline which I will comment separately. If you would have heard Meredith's Performace in the meredith Brooks and The Angels of Mercy recorded Live at the Starry Night" you would know that "Bitch" was her own style, which begs the question who may have stolen it from whom? Do not try to discredit Meredith she has a long history in Oregon and many people I knew knew her style and I am certain I am not the only one that recognized her style, voice and Guitar work in not only "Bitch" but other music since.Markosjal (talk) 15:33, 30 April 2014 (UTC)

It takes skill...

...to be born in 1958, but be 36 years old in 1998. I don't know which part of it is true. Kafziel Complaint Department 08:30, 1 August 2009 (UTC)

Agreed that the birth date is a bit generous. She was a school friend of my sister who is eight years older than I am and I was born in 1965. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 144.5.140.24 (talk) 00:39, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Other album credits

I just picked up a CD from a band called Nuclear Valdez. Album title: I Am I; Epic Records 1989. Catalog # EK 45354. The liner notes credit Meredith Brooks for backing vocals on the song "Rising Sun". It also mentions she appears courtesy of A&M Records.

Adopted son?

Is there any proof that her son was adopted? Darena mipt (talk) 22:09, 6 April 2012 (UTC)
