Expansion[edit]

There's got to be more about this mall's history. Anyone got access to back issues of the Lansing State Journal? I know Woolco and Knapp's were the original anchors (was there a third in the middle before Hudson's came?), but I can't find any sources to verify it. Opening statement[edit]

I am reviewing this article and Lansing Mall simultaneously, as requested. Jank may occur.

For replying to Reviewer comment, please use  Done,  Fixed, plus Added,  Not done,  Doing..., or minus Removed, followed by any comment you'd like to make. I will be crossing out my comments as they are redressed, and only mine. A detailed, section-by-section review will follow after this and my first comment (Referencing). –♠Vami_IV†♠ 20:58, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing[edit]

Referencing is excellent and reliable. However, there are three problems. Namely, they are citations 10, 40, and 41. 10 has "Lansing State Journal" in its |accessdate= parameter, and the latter two are unformatted. –♠Vami_IV†♠ 20:57, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

  • Citation 1 is in violation of MOS:REFPUNCT. I recommend moving it to the end of the sentence, especially if they say the same thing.
  •  Done Moved it to the end of the sentence. The Chain Store Age article verifies the developer name.
  • The mall was built at the northwest corner of Grand River Avenue (M-43) and Marsh Road in Meridian Charter Township. Not especially notable - remove and put in the infobox with the |address= parameter.
  •  Comment: I feel that this information is relevant as it establishes the mall's location relative to other landmarks in town.
  • J. W. Knapp filed for bankruptcy in 1980 and closed its downtown Lansing store, while selling sold all three of its shopping mall stores (Meridian Mall, Lansing Mall, and Jackson, Michigan's Westwood Mall) to J. C. Penney, [...] Irrelevant.
  • which has operated out of all three locations ever since. MOS:WTW, recommend axing.
  • Coinciding with the addition of this new wing, the existing mall was refurbished [...] This would be better condensed to with the previous sentence to form New tenants in the Hudson's wing included several clothing stores and a Foot Locker, while the existing mall was refurbished with new planters, flooring, seating, skylights, and canopies over its entrances.
  • I am confused as to why paragraphs two and three are separated.
  •  Done Fixed all of the above.

1990s-early 2000s[edit]

  • CBL & Associates Properties (now known as CBL Properties) Why is Babbages and other companies who changed their names linked to their current/final name, while this isn't?
  •  Done I made the use of "now known as" more consistent across the article.
  • Of these stores, both Ann Taylor and Old Navy were new to the Lansing area. Liquidate to a clause in the previous sentence (Immediately afterward, several new tenants joined the mall, including The Children's Place, Mrs. Fields, [...] and the first Ann Taylor and Old Navy stores in Lansing.)
  • Braun's Fashions (now known as Christopher & Banks) See first bullet.
  • [...] and a second location across from Lansing Mall, [...] Irrelevant, remove.
  • which opened in early 2000 on the former site of Service Merchandise and replaced an existing Jacobson's in downtown East Lansing. the Service Merchandise.
  • Despite this, both of the existing theater complexes in the mall prior to renovations: Meridian East 4 in December 1999,[28] and Meridian West 4 in July 2000. Confusing.
     Done Fixed above.

Lead[edit]

  • It opened in 1969, the same year that as its main competitor, Lansing Mall, opened on the other end of the Lansing metropolitan area. Redundancy present.
