"Overlooking" Sword Beach[edit]

The first sentence of the main description section states that the battery "overlooked the British invasion area of Sword Beach". Looking at the site on the map, it actually appears to be about a mile from the sea - and if the location given on the Sword Beach article is correct it may even be closer to 10 miles away! Using Google's StreetView feature one can't actually see the sea from the site. This would seem not to meet the common or everyday definition of "overlooking" the target! Perhaps a better description would be "it commanded an artillery range encompassing the British invasion area of Sword Beach"? I'm afraid I don't really know the correct military term; I haven't edited the article for this reason, and because I don't know the area. Stroller (talk) 22:37, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about copyright, so have to wonder: this screengrab I just made (http://bentrem.sycks.net/75thr/images/MervilleBattery.jpg) is from the YT video "D-Day 6.6.44 Part 1/5". Is that usable? If I knew restrictions, I'd gladly add something I edited from a larger map: http://bentrem.sycks.net/75thr/images/DDay-Merville.jpg

Article name and consistency[edit]

There are several articles about the German gun batteries located in Normandy and there appears to be no single style to naming. We have "Merville Gun Battery" (all capitals and all capitals); we have Longues-sur-Mer battery (lower case b); Crisbecq Battery (capital B); and Maisy battery. My $0.02 would be "<location name> battery", e.g. Longues-sur-Mer battery, Crisbecq battery, Merville battery and Maisy battery. Thoughts? Londonclanger (talk) 21:30, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
