Singer[edit]

There's also a singer named Michael Lord as far as I know! - Soulslayer (a colleague from the german Wikipedia) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.121.112.220 (talk) 15:45, 21 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Requested move[edit]

No consensus for move
  • No change. No clear consensus for move after a reasonable length of time for discussion. SilkTork *YES! 21:40, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Michael LordMichael Lord, Baron Framlingham.

Oppose - Known for his career as a Member of Parlaimanet and for beings one of the speakers deputies and not as a peer. Also no disambiguation is required for this article title.--Lucy-marie (talk) 17:00, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support. WP:NCPEER is quite clear. This chap is no longer wholly or exclusively known by his pre-peerage nomenclature. Disambiguation obviously necessary; he has changed his name. Kittybrewster 15:15, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support - particularly given that his title is different from his surname. --Counter-revolutionary (talk) 09:34, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - Just because his title and surname differ is not a reason to change the title of the primary topic for the article title. That is purely a quirk of the title.--Lucy-marie (talk) 10:28, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Neutral - this is one of the cases where the NCPEER method makes for reasonable disambiguation, though if he's the primary topic for the name, then no disambiguation is necessary (and given that he's 72 years old, I think it rather unlikely that he'll make the same mark in the Lords as he did in the Commons).--Kotniski (talk) 10:21, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. At the moment he is better known for his career in the House of Commons than for being a peer. Cf Ian Paisley, not Ian Paisley, Baron Bannside (although on the other hand Paul Channon, Baron Kelvedon not Paul Channon... maybe that one needs to move). Opera hat (talk) 20:06, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. This is a question of what he is known as, not known for. He is now Lord Framlingham. Not Mr Lord. Kittybrewster 20:10, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Margaret Thatcher has been Lady Thatcher for some time now, but that doesn't mean her article is at Margaret Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher. Ditto for John Prescott, Michael Howard, Douglas Hurd, Michael Heseltine, Alan Sugar, Robert Winston, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Richard Attenborough and numerous other examples - though admittedly for all those I've just given the title happens to be the same as their surname. Should that make a difference? Opera hat (talk) 20:43, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, he was Sir Michael Lord, not Mr Lord. Opera hat (talk) 20:43, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Support. Former politicians who have been ennobled are almost invariably known by their titles thereafter. -- Necrothesp (talk) 14:36, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not true at all - in relation to their past career (which in cases like this will be the context in which they are much more often referenced in the long term), and even sometimes in relation to the present, they're still known by their original name. And if you think their titles are "Baron X", then they are almost invariably not known by their titles.--Kotniski (talk) 14:50, 4 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Comment - This is not a Crystal Ball and what they are currently known is what we have to take as the current commonly used name. If in the future the individual is known regularly by their ennobled title then that would be grounds to change the article title. To though say, it is expected that the names they are known by will change is not how things work on Wikipeida.--Lucy-marie (talk) 17:33, 5 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose no evidence any other sources use this name, and I can only find one source[1] mentioning "Lord Framlingham". Even if more references are found, he is still primarily notable as an MP. Peter E. James (talk) 20:53, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox[edit]

As regards how to format the infobox for this and many other similar articles (how do we display information about both Commons and Lords careers?), I've started a thread at WT:PEER#Infoboxes again. --Kotniski (talk) 13:18, 3 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
