Who has written this article?[edit]

I have the feeling that Michael Marder has written this page himself. If he has, dissapointing. If not, apologies, yet rewritings seems necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.76.68.2 (talk) 04:41, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with this view. Hence my edits. Λυδαcιτγ 15:07, 10 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

October 2014[edit]

73.172.16.232 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) has recently made many additions to the article. It seems I am not the only one to find them unhelpful. They seem to me to be promotional and non WP:NPOV, listing excessive details and web links. As they have been reverted by multiple editors, there is obviously no consensus to include them. They should be discussed here before being included again. Melcous (talk) 06:51, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Resume validation - need better sources[edit]

The subject claims to have had faculty-level positions at 12 different academic institutions around the world since he received his PhD in 2007. That seems unlikely. Better sources than the subject's own web page are needed. I put in a few "citation needed" templates. --John Nagle (talk) 19:33, 23 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[edit]

I've been trying to find some secondary sources for this article. Just wanting to put a few here that might be useful in making it a more encyclopaedic entry, include some reviews of his work, if anyone else wants to have a look. Melcous (talk) 05:58, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Only the Commentary article is a secondary source. The others are by Marder himself. --John Nagle (talk) 06:22, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Actually only the last one is by Marder himself, the first two are reviews of his work by others. :) Melcous (talk) 11:39, 24 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

66.44.61.179 please read the link above and tell me why it is OK to cite an unpublished book. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 00:11, 24 March 2015 (UTC) Jytdog Refer here for confirmation: http://www.amazon.com/Dust-Object-Lessons-Michael-Marder/dp/1628925582/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8[reply]

66.44.61.179 OK, I wanted to give you a chance to deal with your policy violation. Going to the edit warring board now. Jytdog (talk) 00:54, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • I've blocked 66 as they violated 3rr after being warned. However, is this really a CRYSTALBALL vio? Is updating this author's list of works with an announced, but yet-to-be-released book really contentious? The IP provided a source. Yes, it wasn't the best source, but it's not exactly the only source. And the information's all there. Why is it necessary to exclude this information on the basis that it hasn't yet been released? We regularly include other unreleased things, such as movies or video games. Surely we do the same with books on other articles too? Swarm X 03:48, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • thanks. really, people put content into WP about things that don't exist yet? that is kooky to me. i work mostly in health related articles where we are very solidly anchored in not only what is, and what is well known and so is encyclopedic... not news, not recentism. this book is not out yet (may never come out... who knows?), has had no impact.. is nothing... is crystalball. strange. on top of that i have been dealing tons lately with academics who are NOTHERE except to pad articles with their citations. nobody cares about an published book yet, except a publisher or author with a COI. i know it was kind of petty of me to throw down over this. but pettier still, and promotional, to demand its inclusion. that is my take. Jytdog (talk) 03:55, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ha, I can certainly tell you've had a couple of problems with this in recent history. I hear what you're saying, and this may be nothing more than an attempt at self-promotion. I dunno. The IP's coming from Princeton NJ. Michael Marder seems to live in Spain. Could it be him? What if it's a good faith update? Does a work need to have been released in order to be considered as "existing"? Do we have different standards in different content areas? Should we? I don't have any clear answers, just thinking out loud. Obviously you should stay true to your opinions based on your experience here, but if a dispute about this persists, try seeking some outside feedback. Swarm X 04:39, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the discussion. I probably will not pursue this much further... so not worth it.  :) Jytdog (talk) 05:16, 24 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

User:Hh892 would you please explain why almost all your edits involve cataloging Marder's work in Wikipedia and adding citations to his work to other articles? Please note that Wikipedia is WP:NOTCATALOG and WP:NOTCV. That is policy. Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 18:13, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

we should figure out which of these to list. IP addresses add each book as it is published. It appears that this page in WP is being used as a personal webpage.
