His age in Woodstock[edit]

If he was born in July 1949, he was 20 in Woodstock. I don't know if he was the youngest, then.Tushyk 06:56, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have always heard that he was 19 at Woodstock. Shrieve himself says that he had turned 19 right before the festival, quoted in the book "Woodstock: An Inside Look at the Movie That Shook Up the World and Defined a Generation" (published by Michael Wiese Film Productions, 1999). I would suggest that his correct date of birth is July 1950, but I have no other way of verifying this.

All sources seem to indicate 1949 is the correct year. Of course, many of them also contain the conflicting claim he was 19 at Woodstock. He actually lives around the corner, so I could ask him, but a) it would be a somewhat impudent question which I am disinclined to ask, and b) it would probably count as "original research" and violate the rules anyway. Safest route seems to be to stick to the verifiable and source-able facts (birthday) and remove the unverifiable ones. Sarcasmboy 21:56, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also he may have graduated from Junipero Serra High School but in 1965 he was at St. Francis High School in Mountain View CA. I played with him there in the Junior Varsity band. He took up drums, I took up trumpet, and the rest, as they say, is history. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.157.106.99 (talk) 02:21, 29 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Soul Sacrifice[edit]

"One of the most elaborate drum solos in rock n' roll history" is a little grandiose I think. This should probably be re-worded. Also "eight-plus minute version of Soul Sacrifice" makes it sound like the drum solo extended the song longer than usual, but eight minutes is about the same length for the track on the studio album as well. Added data and references. Remove prods?[edit]

I've added a number of references, including one about his nomination to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Perhaps we can remove the notability and references prods? K8 fan (talk) 05:05, 7 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone? It's fairly well sourced now and the notability seems well established. K8 fan (talk) 06:21, 8 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

His age at Woodstock - he is the third youngest.[edit]

Two members of Sha Na Na (Henry Gross (born April 1, 1951) and Alan Cooper (born July 15, 1950) are younger than Shrieve. This makes him the third youngest. 170.250.70.97 (talk) 13:57, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
