Notable Alumni[edit]

once Knowshon Marino goes pro, we should definitely put him as a notable alumni (just for anyone in the future that reads this, because I will probably forget by then)

Homecoming game[edit]

Even if you stipulate that a school is notable, a homecoming game isn't even on the radar. Almost every high school in the country has an annual homecoming game. Nobody who doesn't already know about the homecoming game is going to come to Wikipedia to find out about it. Maybe, just maybe it could have a sentence in a section on its relationship with MHS North (a history which does deserve a section), but it in no way belongs in the header. There is nothing to establish that this football game is noteworthy as far as homecoming games go. All schools do this. - Che Nuevara 21:25, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can we discuss this here rather than in edit summaries? I put my opinion here right after my revert; it would be nice to see the opposing side posted here too. - Che Nuevara 03:55, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
sorry, didn't see your comment here before I reverted. I'd be ok with it being moved from the header, as long as it's mentioned somewhere. All schools may do this, but not many have a rivalry as heated as North/South. --Kbdank71 04:23, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think that's true. Tons of schools have rivalries; it's a commonplace element of secondary education all over the country. Now, if there were a section on South's rivalry with North, it would be worth mentioning that the homecoming game is always played SvN. But a pep rally? and the homecoming court? I can't see anything special about that, and I can't imagine anything noteworthy about it. - Che Nuevara 04:37, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
True enough. Sure, that's fine. --Kbdank71 10:47, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm trying to find a website with information about the "split" of South off of North to start a section like that, but I can't. Have you seen anything? - Che Nuevara 18:53, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nice find. I checked for about an hour but didn't find anything but the year south was built. --Kbdank71 20:52, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(unindent) Yeah, well, I'll fess up ... I went to South, and when I was there, two teachers from Middletown High were still teaching at South. I'm still looking to source it more concretely. It was at the time (and still is) a political hot issue of sorts, because the sections of North Middletown which go to MHS South are the more wealthy sections of North Middletown (and South Middletown is just in general more well off than the North), and they got to go to the new school. I decided not to add that without significant sourcing, which could be tough. ... By the way, do you agree with my handling of the homecoming game? - Che Nuevara 21:02, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That's funny. I went to South also (class of 90, first freshman class if I recall correctly). In fact, I lived in Leonardo, right off of Kings Hwy East. So I know exactly what you are talking about. I thought the homecoming blurb was well written. I'll keep trying to find anything to add to it. --Kbdank71 02:21, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I graduated significantly later, so I'm rather sure we don't know each other. Part of the problem in finding sources for this darn articles is that there are nine billion Middletowns in the US ;) - Che Nuevara 03:55, 20 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe include a career record, to show how MHSS dominates the north.
