@Her ethnic background has always been a controversial issue. Some people think that she is Hispanic but she is full Japanese.:
In what way was this controversial? Shinobu 11:04, 24 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's not, but people are often curious about it, and have different theories. mirageinred 03:45, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
In that case it might be better to scrap the first sentence. Although I'm curious as to who think she's Hispanic - to me she looks distinctly Asian. Please also read WP:WEASEL. Shinobu 01:03, 26 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On the "THE END" cover and the whole "NANA starring MIKA NAKASHIMA" thing, she definitely looks Hispanic, and on some singles she doesn't look Asian. Maybe it's the makeup, but I just thought I'd point that out. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Why sigh, cutie pie? (talk • contribs) 04:33, 31 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]
I really don't think she looks that Hispanic on the cover... but that's just my opinion.Moocowsrule (talk) 05:57, 9 September 2008 (UTC)Moocowsrule[reply]
Doesn't look Hispanic exactly, but IMO you wouldn't exactly look at it and say, "Hey! Japanese/Chinese girl!" Could be something like another European or Southern American race, maybe even a good chance of Middle Eastern. It's the dark colors and cosmetics. ★Dasani★ 03:06, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
she is hybrid half japanese and half caucasian. not full japanese. she has western features. and definately not hispanic!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.212.126.198 (talk) 07:27, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think you can really call a human a "hybrid". I mean you can say she's a mix...Moocowsrule (talk) 00:08, 10 September 2008 (UTC)Moocowsrule[reply]
True, "hybrid" is more used for cars and machines and the such, but the Chinese compound for "mixed blood" (ex. a half Japanese and half Polish girl) is exactly the same as the one for "hybrid", and it does mean, "Composed of two different components". But she is not mixed blood, at least not to my knowledge. Mika is full Japanese. Unless she's been lying... ★Dasani★ 03:08, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The fansites above were removed. The first one only has a paragraph about the artist. The second link is just a picture gallery and a collection of youtube links.
