Removed line about tunnel. Thoughts?[edit]

I removed a sentence from the section on the Bristol crash. Here's the diff: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mike_Harmon&diff=362736439&oldid=348131004 The sentence was: "As a result of that crash, a similar crash by Michael Waltrip in 1990, and the inability to get ambulances out of the infield without having to stop the race, Speedway Motorsports, Inc. installed a tunnel under the track for traffic to enter and exit the infield."

Reading a newspaper article about Harmon's crash, dated August 24, 2002 (link below), I read: "Bristol has gates because, until this year, there was no tunnel for people to walk through to get in and out of the track. But since the tunnel was opened this spring, the second gate that Harmon hit is obsolete."

That's either accurate or a huge, bizarre, and prophetic error on the part of the Free Lance-Star. It also includes quotes from Michael Waltrip saying "I suggested they put a real wall there because I don't know why it's necessary to have a gate there."

So, it looks to me that the tunnel existed, and was opened, prior to Harmon's crash.

Something should be mentioned about the tunnel, though. I might write something for now, but I've never considered myself very eloquent, so hopefully a veteran can come along and write something about it, or fix what I write. 98.166.109.81 (talk) 03:10, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
