"Mima City" and "Mima Town"[edit]

"Mima City" and "Mima Town" are both unacceptable in English. They are (poor) direct translations from Japanese that should be avoided if the goal is readable English prose. See this for details.

An additional point to consider: Even if "Mima Town" were an acceptable rendition of 美馬町, the governmental entity known as 美馬町 has been dissolved and no longer exists. That area is now simply a portion of the city of Mima, and is not a town unto itself. I recommend calling it "Old Mima" when distinction is necessary. (Think hard about this, because 99% of the time the distinction really isn't relevant to anyone who doesn't already have detailed knowledge of the city's history and geography.)

For ideas on how to render a subsection of a municipality that shares the same name as that municipality, see Ikata, Ehime ("Old Ikata" is a subsection of the current town of Ikata). -Amake (talk) 14:51, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
