Image:Minority.jpg is being used on this article. Release section

Move

There are other songs called "Minority", for example, the Subhumans have a song called "Minority" on their debut album The Day the Country Died (1983). So, my point is, should this article be moved from Minority (song) to Minority (Green Day song)? --BLAguyMONKEY! (talk) 11:17, 18 December 2011 (UTC)

Only if there are other Wikipedia articles about songs titled "Minority". There are probably many songs with that title by other artists, but unless there are Wikipedia articles about any of those songs then no disambiguation is necessary. The 1953 Jazz Standard, Minority (Gigi Gryce song) now has its own article and Minority (song) has been moved to Minority (Green Day song). If the Subhumans song needs its own article, the namespace is open for it now.--GlenPeterson (talk) 20:56, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

Folk punk

I think it's safe to add "folk punk" to the genre after pop punk. This song has a continuous acoustic guitar riff, a folky melody, and at least two bridges that include harmonica solos in it. Just leaving this here while I add it in case people have further dispute, as my previous revision to such was reverted. flash. ^[talk.] 02:39, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Minority (song) is also a Jazz Standard by Gigi Gryce

While Gryce's song might not currently be as popular as Green Day's, the fact that so many great musicians have covered it makes it important in music history. When a dozen other accomplished punk bands cover Green Day's "Minority" then it makes sense to have that song become the primary Wikipedia article and let Gigi Gryce's song become secondary. But until that time, I would vote for "Minority (song)" to either be a disambiguation page or point to Gigi Gryce's song. The current page should be renamed "Minority (album)" or "Minority (Green Day song)". --GlenPeterson (talk) 22:19, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

Wikipedia does not, at present, have an article on the Gigi Gryce song. If such an article were created, thing to do would be to put it at Minority (Gigi Gryce song) and move this one to Minority (Green Day song), having Minority (song) redirect to Minority#Music where both should be listed. --IllaZilla (talk) 09:28, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
