Copy-Pasted[edit]

Link on Sunrise Mountain[edit]

I have removed the link on Sunrise Mountain in the Mint 400 article as clicking on it will redirect to Killington Ski Resort, due to the fact that there is a Sunrise Mountain in Killington. The Sunrise Mountain mentioned in Mint 400 article has nothing to do with Killington. If there is an article created on the Sunrise Mountain mentioned on Mint 400 article, feel free to link Sunrise Mountain with that page (NOT Killington Ski Resort). Highly subjective wording[edit]

I will leave this for real wiki editors, but this particular portion regarding the temporary hiatus of the race in question is written in an unprofessional and biased sounding manner that is not consistent with the neutrality of Wikipedia articles.

"Unfortunately, two years removed from previous ownership and upper management that were themselves race competitors and motorsport enthusiasts, who understood and appreciated the importance of this event to the sport of off road racing and the local community and; now owned by an individual that once remarked the race, its competitors, tech inspection on Fremont Street and surrounding ancillary activities, was a negative impact on gambling and his Bingo players, the rougest and toughest racing event on U. S. soil was gone following the 1989 Mint 400 event. Considered a motor racing icon, on the level of the SCORE Baja 1000, a legendary event was dead and a historic era in off road racing had come to an untimely end."

Perhaps this should be cleaned up, or one of those 'warnings' about it posted?

Agreed, I've flagged this article disputing it's neutrality. Too much of it sounds like it was written by a PR suit. Jgsampson (talk) 20:07, 6 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Permission problem[edit]

The 2014 rewrite by DesertDingo (talk · contribs) includes the statement:

The first history of the the Mint 400 was included in "The Off-Road Racer (1976)" by Mint creator Norm Johnson. A substantial portion of this listing is culled from the book with the permission of the author

This by itself is not sufficient evidence that the author has granted permission for his work to be re-used here. It also does not make clear what kind of permission has been granted - text at Wikipedia is available for re-use, even for commercial re-use, under a CC-BY-SA license. See the links in the previous copyright message for details.

Without a copy of the book, I cannot tell whether the book's text has been copied here verbatim, or has been summarised or rewritten sufficiently to avoid copyright problems. As a precaution I am restoring the article to its state on 14 May 2014. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:43, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
