Miss Earth is a beauty pageant conducted by Carousel Productions to select the US representative to Miss Earth Pageant held in the Philippines.

HISTORY OF THE USA REPRESENTATIVE TO THE MISS EARTH PAGEANT

From 2001 to 2005 the United States franchised pageant director for the Miss Earth Pageant held in the Philippines was Susan Jeske. Ms. Jeske is a former Ms. America and currently the President of the Ms. America ® International Pageant.

Ms. Jeske first selected Abigail Royce in 2001 from a group of potential applicants, to represent the United States in the Miss Earth Pageant held in Manila, Philippines. Miss Royce became a top 10 finalist in the pageant.

In July of 2002, a live pageant was held in Westminster, California where 30 contestants competed for the title of Ms. America ® International. Casey Marie Burns was selected as the winner. The main prize was an all expense paid trip to the Miss Earth Pageant in Manila, Philippines representing the United States.

In 2003, Jessica Schilling, was selected from a group of potential applications to represent the USA in the Miss Earth pageant held in Manila, Philippines and also received the title of Ms. America ® International.

In 2004, Stephanie Brownell was selected to represent the USA in the Miss Earth Pageant. She returned to the USA with the Miss Friendship award voted on by her fellow contestants and received a cash prize.

In 2005, Amanda Kimmel, was selected from a group of applicants to be the 2005 USA Representative and achieved the USA's highest placement being a top 8 finalist. Kimmel is also the first Miss USA delegate to crossover and compete in the Miss Earth pageant.She was assisted in her international pageant preparation by members of Earth Pageant Productions and her former state director- Carol Hirata. Ms. Kimmel went on to Reality TV fame, by finishing as the runner up twice, in Survivor-China and Survivor-All Stars.

In 2006, the USA franchised Earth Pageant Productions to produce and conduct a national pageant to officially select the representative to Miss Earth. On August 1, 2006, Amanda Pennekamp became Miss Earth United States in a live competition held in Laughlin, Nevada. Amanda went onto the Miss Earth 2006 pageant where she became a top 16 finalist. Miss Pennekamp, representing South Carolina, was also first runner up to Miss USA in the 2004 competition. In 2007 and 2008 the pageant was held in Portland, Oregon where Miss Kansas Lisa Forbes (2007) and Jana Murrell Miss Nebraska (2008) were crowned Miss Earth United States. Due to overwhelming request, a teen division was added in 2008 where Sarah Fitzgerald Miss Teen Earth Utah won the inaugural Miss Teen Earth United States title.

On July 22, 2009 from Primm Valley, Nevada 58 delegates participated for the title of Miss Earth United States and Miss Teen Earth United States. Amy Diaz-Miss Earth Rhode Island was crowned as Miss Earth United States 2009 and will represent the United States in Manila, Philippines. As the first latina to win the title, Amy hopes to become Miss Earth on November 8th, 2009. Jolie-Noelle Schamber-Miss Teen Earth Florida, was crowned Miss Teen Earth United States and will receive an educational scholarship and opportunities for travelm with Amy, within the United States.
