Recommend merging with Honey War[edit]

Recommend this article and "Honey War" (known colloquially in southern Iowa as the "Pitchfork War") be merged. There is already considerable overlap of the content. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.51.185.32 (talk) 13:40, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I see no real reason to do so. First, the Supreme Court case has an incredible amount of importance on its own. Second, the "Honey War" has a lot more going on that legal reasoning, and many of the facts of the "Honey War" have nothing to do with the legal case. The truth is, the artilce on the "Honey War" is in pretty poor shape. It should be expanded and more of the political side of the "war" included in the article, about more about the raids and actions by law enforcement on both sides of the line discussed more. There should also be a discussion of the economics of both states added to the article, to give context and meaning to why this was so important economically to both states. None of those things belong in this article about a boundary dispute. - Tim1965 (talk) 15:55, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Date[edit]

The article states that this was decreed on March 13... but the actual decree states, "On this 13th day of February, A. D. 1849...", and March 13 is nowhere mentioned. --Golbez (talk) 17:22, 10 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
