Editing Plans[edit]

I'm studying Technical Editing and have selected this article to help refine as a part of our curriculum. My inital planned edits are to revise for tone (keeping in line with WP:NPV) as well as organizational edits - restructuring the order of sections as well as editing the sections themselves. For an initial edit, I would recommend allocating discussion of Mock White Girl in "History, Theorists, and Contributors" to "Examples", as well as moving the information of "Mock Spanish". The information contained in this article is organized in a way that is scattered and not readable. I will be using the sandbox tool to preview these edits prior to making changes to the article itself, and will update with my progress to get feedback from felllow editors. I look forward to collaboratively making edits over the next three weeks! Txrharvey (talk) 04:48, 2 March 2021 (UTC) txrharvey[reply]

Implementation of Edits[edit]

I posted edits section by section for ease of reviewing changes by other editors. My edits are as follows: Minor rewording of lead for flow and clarity. Combined elements of History and Definition for a more cohesive Definition. Consider changing heading to Origin of term? Combined elements of History and Implications of Study for a more cohesive Research Section. I am not a content expert and as such have not edited the paragraph re: language crossing. I would encourage editing of this paragraph, as of now it mainly consists of direct quotes without coherent explanation. Additionally, code-switching is already a Wikipedia page - discussion of code-switching was trimmed for redundancy, as it tended to go in circles re: if code switching qualified as mock language. In reviewing Controversy, the section added no new information to the article and was redundant. after ensuring there was no pertinent information slipping through the cracks, deleted. Combined Features, Mock Spanish, and Examples into Additional Examples. Would Encourage further discussion to take place - it seems bare but I don't want to risk W:OR

Looking forward to feedback re these edits!Txrharvey (talk) 05:55, 14 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Revisiting Edits[edit]

In revisiting this page, I separated the Research section into more manageable chunks by topic, and named them accordingly. It also is feasible to have the researching scholar as heading, but I chose topic as it's more quickly informative to the reader. In addition, I made language crossing a separate section, as research of language crossing is not discussed. I also moved the discussion of mock white girl to the earlier mention in the article to avoid redundancy. It's order as such to set up the concept of Mock White Girl, then segue into discussion of research (in contrast with Hill's section, which begins with research and concludes with discussion of research. Finally, I fished out an old citation from the deleted Controversy section that was relevant and added it back, now in the Definition.

Can Definition be further divided? As of now, language crossing and the final paragraph of the Definition are out of place and could conceivably go together, but I don't know what the unifying title might be. Any thoughts would be appreciated! additionally - why is language crossing here and not with code switching? Txrharvey (talk) 14:22, 5 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Have you ever considered it as harmless comedy?[edit]

My goodness, this article reads like terminal stage woke brain disease. Mock language is harmless fun, and it's seen as such by millions of people both on the giving and receiving end. Why write a full article describing it as the next nazi genocide without pointing out h. sapiens are also capable of humour? This is biased for the woke drama.

Disclosure: my native tongue is Spanish. When I read "el cheapo", I do not feel my human rights violated and the oppression of English supremacism and racism; I just laugh. Can you believe it? 66.81.160.54 (talk) 08:37, 23 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I don't find it offensive and this article must be rewritten to be neutral instead of overly sensitive. 202.169.23.60 (talk) 01:01, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I have edited the article to make the article neutral by removing any essay statements and opinions. 49.192.44.178 (talk) 09:38, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
