Emmerdale character articles; invitation to discussion[edit]

I've begun a discussion regarding the atrocious state of character articles within the Emmerdale universe. These articles stand to be deleted unless corrective action is taken. Moira Barton → Moira Dingle – This is an Emmerdale characters who has been credited as Dingle longer that Barton so Dingle is the character’s common name. – Blanchey (talk) 15:15, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Comment. Just because she has been credited as Dingle for longer, doesn't necessarily mean that it's her WP:COMMONNAME. There are much more Google hits for "Moira Barton" than "Moria Dingle" (and for "Moira Barton Emmerdale"). The news hits for "Barton" also outdo "Dingle". There are also quite a few sources still calling her Barton, such as [14] and [15]. Barton was the name she was introduced with and had some fairly notable storylines under. Writers also introduced other family members to boost that connection. But she's also had some pretty memorable storylines as a Dingle. To be honest, I think both names are pretty recognisable, which makes it trickier. - JuneGloom07 Talk 02:26, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
