Veracity[edit]

It becomes a poor case when an entry contains the word "may" in stating significant points, or the phrase "widely believed to" when it comes to making references. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.139.165.191 (talk) 06:17, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Age[edit]

Anyone know when he was born? Given the most recent discussions concerning the Iran and possible succession to his father, I think it would be interesting to see how old he is. 80.108.103.172 (talk) 17:48, 23 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He appears to be 40. This is from the next Newsweek edition, via LexisNexis:
The Supreme Leader, meanwhile, began turning to his second son, Mojtaba Khamenei, as his agent and enforcer. Some in the leader's house believe the 40-year-old cleric might one day inherit his father's position. But for now, Mojtaba has become the Supreme Leader's main conduit to the outside world, and an interpreter of what is happening on the street. "Mojtaba Khamenei thought that the re-formists were betraying his father during the eight years of the Khatami presidency," says an ally of Rafsanjani who did not want to be cited by name. The fact that many of them had been activists and organizers of the popular uprising against the shah made them particularly dangerous. They knew how to work the streets. After Khatami's two terms, neither Mojtaba nor his father wanted to see them come to power again.

Wealth[edit]

The information about $1.6 billion personal wealth in the UK is sourced from a prominent newspaper (The Guardian). However, Hansard reports the responsible minister as giving $1.6 billion as the total of all Iranian assets frozen under the sanctions regime. I am wondering if the attribution of this entire amount to Mojtaba Khamenei as personal wealth may be wrong. Is there any other evidence that he is a billionaire?

Iranian Frozen Assets
The Economic Secretary to the Treasury (Ian Pearson): The Foreign Secretary has previously provided figures for the total frozen assets in the UK under the sanctions against Burma and Zimbabwe. An aggregate figure for frozen assets is given in relation to a sanctions regime in order to ensure that principles of data protection and confidentiality are observed and the amount relating to any one individual or entity is not identifiable.
Total assets frozen in the UK under the sanctions against Iran
The total assets frozen in the UK under the EU and UN sanctions against Iran are approximately £976,110,000. This figure is the total reported frozen assets at the time sanctions were imposed and has been converted to sterling from the currencies in which it was reported using the appropriate exchange rate for the day on which it was reported.

None of the press reports I've seen mention any business involvements, and if he'd actually made that sort of money, he'd be unlikely to bank it in the country his old man describes as state enemy number one. I'd say remove the "billionaire" claim until there's much harder evidence for it. ARK (talk) 21:22, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Until we find any evidence that he really is so rich, I have removed the billionaire claim. EdH (talk) 16:51, 4 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

POV tag[edit]

The article just explain his roles in the 2009 election and its related events. The main parts of the text are doubts. The current article has POV issue.Saff V. (talk) 10:43, 18 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Saff V. talking about a persons role in a particular field/action/line of duty or event is not POV. For example, the article on hitler talks about his role in the NAzi party. This does not mean that there is something wrong with the information. This just means that what he did as the leader of the nazi party was his prominent achievement. Same is the case with this guy. He took care of things for his daddy during the 2009 elections and that is his "role". It is not POV. FreeatlastChitchat (talk) 07:37, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@FreeatlastChitchat Is this account for you?Saff V. (talk) 07:42, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Saff V. What? I fail to see your response as making any sense. Care to explain yourself? FreeatlastChitchat (talk) 07:44, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Saff V. what are u talking about dude? Are you sure you understood what I said? if you are having problems with translation please don't feel scared lol, just tell me which sentences you do not understand and I will shorten them for you, easier on google translate. @FreeatlastChitchat Thanks for your answer.Saff V. (talk) 07:56, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Saff V. sure dude np. Ty for agreeing to it. FreeatlastChitchat (talk) 07:57, 23 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@FreeatlastChitchat My thank was not to verify your persistent reverting. I did not tag merely because of his 'role'. I said that, his role in 2009 election had undue weight.Saff V. (talk) 15:19, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The POV issue with this article is surely in what is not included (which is what I thought @Saff V.: was saying), particularly the allegations that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps controls enormous amounts of money and that that motivates political manoevering. However, I agree that the text that is in the article, although incomplete, is not bad. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 13:07, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Sminthopsis84 but the said allegations are included. What exactly do you want to say? What exactly should be included then? FreeatlastChitchat (talk) 13:13, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
If you want to work on this article, then please read reference 12 and do the work, rather than demanding that other editors explain things to you more carefully than they have already done. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 13:20, 24 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
