Why was line truncated?[edit]

This line was truncated to St. Albans, Vermont, at some point since the 1980s. Why did this happen? This truncating, which lead to name change to Vermonter, has not been clearly accounted for.Dogru144 (talk) 04:53, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So far as I can tell, track conditions got so bad north of the border in 1995 that Amtrak refused to operate on it. The state of Vermont provided funds to fund the train as far as St. Albans, and that has been the working arrangement since. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 08:28, 14 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Wreck of 1984[edit]

In July 1984, a Amtrak Montrealer train derailed in Williston, Vermont after a flood washedout a railbed. Five people were killed and about 140 people were injured. The train was carrying around 280 people around the time it derailed. This should be added to the main page. --24.147.1.197 (talk) 16:05, 18 February 2014 (UTC)Jacob Chesley[reply]

 Done. I've added a section with a few news and NTSB sources. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 20:03, 18 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
