Hi CK, I've noticed that you've removed the cattle reference twice now. That reference has been on this page for a long time and if you follow the cateogory 'animal noises' you will find there are a lot of other similar articles for other animals.

Please consider not reverting.

I only removed it once mate, an anonomous removed it the first time, with the correct edit summary "Wikipedia is not a dictionary" (editors seem to have a hard time understanding the dabs are not a repository of information, they are to designed to get you to your desired location. Someone doesn't search for cattle by typing in "moo"). The anon was correct, but the core of the problem is how we are going to deal with these animal sounds. It doesn't make sense to categorise a dab, since the "MUD text-based virtual reality system" is not an animal noise. Any ideas? And no, I won't be reverting again.--Commander Keane 11:00, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Someone could create a single page for listing animal sounds (and, it wouldn't have to be just English; so it would be a good way to expand all our horizons). Then, Moo could DAB to the animal sound page; Cock-a-doodle-doo would redirect, etc. Just a thought; although, I doubt that very many people wake up in the morning thinking: "What animal goes oink? I think I'll check Wikipedia." So, the number of redirect and DAB pages can probably be kept quite small. Neier 11:39, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds like a good idea. Other languages would be interesting. --Commander Keane 11:55, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I'm confused - why is a disambiguation page categorized under 'animal noises' in addition to disamb.? The term can refer to more than just animal noise, so shouldn't 'computer games', 'rugby', etc., be similarly included? I don't see other disambiguation pages with categories for each meaning of the term. - IstvanWolf 14:13, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's shouldn't be under that category. Someone was trying to use a category as a list of animal sounds - but categories are not lists so I removed the category from the page. Also keep in mind Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages) - which prescribes only using one wikilink per line.--Commander Keane 14:45, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the heads up. - IstvanWolf 17:27, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

*Moo, slang for awesome in Kentucky?[edit]

I removed this since (a) it doesn't link to a page and (b) I can't find any evidence of its veracity. I may be wrong - the Kentucky usage may be valid and desperately important - if so, please put it back, write a Kentucky Moo article, link to it, and cite your sources - oh, and accept my apologies too, please. MOO (pie), a special pie found in New Zealand during the winter season[edit]

I've removed MOO (pie) since (a) it doesn't link to a page and (b) I can't find any evidence of its veracity. I'm no expert on New Zealand gastronomic matters, so please reinsert if I'm wrong, write an article on it, and link the disambiguation line to your article. Thanks. - Hebrides 08:35, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
