St. Gertrude[edit]

Why is a variant name of Mora "Santa Gertrudis?" What is the connection to the town. This name of St. Gertrude is listed in the US Geological Survey Geographic Names Information System. Thanks! 75.173.143.132 (talk) 21:27, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

To expand on that, many towns in the Spanish Americas had/have patron saints to protect the town, and often their full or original names reflect that (for example, Santa Fe, New Mexico's patron saint is Francis of Assisi). Arlo James Barnes 17:34, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
