Not the First

Contrary to this commonly made false claim, Mitsubishi was first to the market with a portable cell phone. I had one almost a year before the Motorola offering. NEC also had a portable predating this phone that was smaller and lighter. That said, the 8000X was a good rugged phone in the AMPs days. The "gain" antenna put nearly the power of a car mounted unit in your hands. I saw a police deputy in Jefferson Parish use the 8000x to club a suspect trying to get his service revolver away from him, and after hitting the guy HARD about 4 times, used the phone to call him an ambulance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.251.45.64 (talk) 02:20, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

That's one cool phone. --128.100.36.228

Star Trek-inspired?

Should it be noted that the inventor was inspired by Star Trek's communicator? DrWho42 20:07, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Bad language

The paragraph and two lines just before the picture at middle seem to be badly translated from another language, and partially repeat the information in the beginning of the article. I am trying to reword this, but I'm having a lot of trouble trying to figure out the meaning of these sentences. --82.174.173.116 18:15, 19 April 2007 (UTC)hej lol--82.174.173.116 18:15, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

Added Photo

I have added a photo of my 8000X. Hope this helps guys! Redrum0486 (talk) 23:56, 23 November 2008 (UTC)

Clarifying description?

The dimensions of a representative DynaTAC model would be a helpful addition to the description.

"These displays were severely limited in what information they could show."

I'm not sure what that is intended to mean, exactly. Limited in comparison to what? I'm pretty sure this phone had the single-line numeric display typical for the period. If that's correct it would be clearer to simply say so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bcostin (talkcontribs) 22:02, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

X or x?

The article uses lowercase model letters (8000x), but most online sources have uppercase (8000X). Is there any way to confirm the official spelling?
