Port Size[edit]

Could someone please confirm whether the F3's charging/headset port is for a 2.5mm or a 2.75mm headset? -- April 10th, 2008

Images used[edit]

Hi, we need some good images of this phone. I've reverted to the one with Flickr in the display... I know it's not great, but it is clearer, and higher resolution than the other two... Hope that's ok

US Availability[edit]

Is it yet known when this will be available on US GSM bands? The statement that the CDMA version should be available in 2006 Q4, while accurate to the motorola website, is out of date.

I have heard that the Mexican cell phone company Telcel sells them and the phones are gsm 850/1900. so really all one has to do is go down to Mexico and buy one and then unlock it.Zeos386sx 01:58, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can't find out how to get it from Mexico to the US... do you actually need to go to mexico, or can it be purchased over the web and mailed? Telcel's website doesn't offer it, last I looked. Motorola themselves won't respond to the customer service emails I've sent regarding US availability.

I've just (8/28/07) received an email from a customer service rep for motorola stating that the intent is to release the phone in the US, but they're "testing" and negotiating with service providers, which accounts for the delay. They gave me no date for the actual release. I'm dubious.

Is it available in Germany? V4vijayakumar 14:37, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Vigilius (talk) 05:54, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is now available in the US (since at least march 11th) as I just bought one off of the Motorola US Store (http://www.store.motorola.com/). I must say it is an awesome phone. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.146.27.137 (talk) 04:10, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stuffing out stub[edit]

I've added quite a bit of info, based on publically available information and using the Motofone for a month now. I've also added some links to technical information. Since English is not my first language, everyone fixing spelling errors or cutting up too long sentences is warmly welcomed...

Number Codes[edit]

Thanks for contributing. I applied some spell checking and added some other number codes (phone info, serial number).

Contradiction[edit]

It states that the device is limited to the listed characters, but later mentions that it also does £ (be it, rather crudely it should also be mentioned)

Should the pound sign (£) not also be in this short list? it is also capable for displaying the dollar sign ($) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.111.162.127 (talk) 00:01, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

May I ask how does one use those characters? I'm asking because I have this phone and I learned how to use the + here, I see coins on the # so I assumed the £ and the $ appear after holding the # key but that doesn't happen in my phone. 01:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC) PuercoPop (talk) 01:52, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mine does not show the pound sign. Maybe it's different depending on where you buy it. Sp4i6 (talk) 00:36, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

^^ Yup confirmed. The 800 Mhz version of this phone is POUND while the 900 Mhz version is DOLLAR. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.231.237.139 (talk) 19:03, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality[edit]

Someone inserted a neutrality dispute for this page, but there is no record of why on the Talk page ... Seems like this tag should be removed?

The talk page mysteriously disappeared. I have no idea who did it or why. Gert2 16:30, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"are really weak and really hard to notice" imagine "einstein was a really good scientist" --77.185.37.113 (talk) 18:11, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Firstly, the neutrality of the section was very much evident, a comment on the talk page wasn't really necessary (I didn't add the tag, btw). But to be honest the whole section was an unrecoverable mess. Unsourced, mostly blatant POV and inaccurate. Reads like the ramblings of a disgruntled owner. I've taken the liberty of removing the whole section, while a "limitations" section may be poignant one would need to be written from scratch. Rehevkor (talk) 16:24, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In regards to "The main purpose of this phone is call handling.".. should this really be there? I realize that most phones have a ton of other features, but is there really any phone whose MAIN purpose is something besides call handling? Lollerskates 21:40, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The main purpose of every phone is call handling. That's why they're phones. Different from "handhelds", "Palms", "3G" and whatever else. However, stating the obvious about a specific phone is kind of redundant. Sp4i6 (talk) 00:38, 6 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Case openings[edit]

"It is also fairly solid and rugged and should survive
not only rough handling but also very dusty and/or damp
conditions well, as the case has only two openings
(a charger/headset jack and the battery cover)..."

I suppose that the speaker and microphone are also openings. Plus, the battery compartment cover is definitely not water tight, so I'd remove the claim about handling in damp conditions.--78.42.227.219 (talk) 07:12, 29 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of stupid content[edit]

I just removed "Durability.. Due to its spectacular battery resistance, the F3 has been called "The Zombie apocalypse cellphone" [1]." Stupid and redundant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.231.237.139 (talk) 19:02, 10 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Undocumented Codes[edit]

I think any removal of the undocumented codes should be discussed first. I noticed their removal when I went to check what the code to do something on my phone was. Undocumented does not necessarily mean unverifiable, the reference lists the undocumented codes as well whether or not the reference is correct is a different matter. From my own testing (which would be classed as original research) they have been correct. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CACLF (talkcontribs) 21:49, 4 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Which reference? Edgepedia (talk) 06:18, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I took care of the problem. Regardless of verifiability or sources... It doesn't belong here. See WP:NOTMANUAL. SpigotMap 19:40, 5 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Name of phone?[edit]

I've still got the box (UK version). It's definitely called 'Motofone F3' not 'Motorola Fone F3'.95.150.45.158 (talk) 17:22, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Polish version languages?[edit]

Hello, I want to ask what language does the version sold in Poland have. In the old firmware it has Polish and Russian, but with the new firmware it has Polish, Russian and ???. Can someone tell me what is it or at least send voice clips? My mail is avstraliya61@gmail.com for contact. 37.248.152.24 (talk) 07:38, 7 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
