Owl plugin issue
I added this section because I think it's important for users to understand that code can be added to Thunderbird by developers with ulterior motives.
Walter Görlitz, who backed out my edit previously - this issue isn't just with a plugin; Thunderbird source code was modified, approved and released which prompted a message to any user to download the commercial Owl addin when anyone added an @outlook.com or any other Office365 account.

- What's abysmal is that you think a bug in a plugin—something not created by the Mozilla project—should be discussed at the project. The Thunderbird source code was not modified. Plug-ins are stand-alone code and anyone who installs a plugin-in is warned to be cautious. Walter Görlitz (talk) 16:02, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Walter Görlitz and DaveWThompson: the facts of the matter are that it doesn't matter if the source code was a plug-in or not. All that matters is there are WP:Reliable sources which cover the topic in sufficient detail to warrant inclusion. –MJL ‐Talk‐☖ 17:38, 6 March 2020 (UTC)

And for the second time, the bug was not with a plugin; it was CODE THAT WAS INSERTED INTO THUNDERBIRD WHICH REDIRECTED ALL USERS TO A PAID-FOR ADDIN IF THEY ADDED A OUTLOOK OR OFFICE365 ACCOUNT. - @MJL and Walter Görlitz: Then sign up. It is free; anyone can do it. Many people cite articles begin paywalls. I will be raising a grievance against Walter Görlitz as he is deliberately ignoring facts to remove my changes. I can only assume he either works alongside Owl developers or has some other conflict of interest. - There was a fix in Thunderbird's core that addresses the issue (cf. Debian bug report [1]) by considering to offer assistance in setting up mail accounts via proprietary protocols (that may also need non-free third party plugins) as last resort, if I interpret this correctly: [2] [3] [4] [5] --Brevity (talk) 09:24, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
