Characters

Can someone please rationalize "Mr. Bean's Mini" being classed as a 'Character'? Thanks. 219.89.135.175 (talk) 08:47, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

ALIEN

FINAL EPISODE MR.BEAN IS REVEALED TO BE AN ALIEN? LIES WATCH BOTH A GRAND INVITATION AND A RUNNING BATTLE ON YOUTUBE ALL THE WAY THRU AND THERE WAS NOTHING RELATED TO HIM BEING AN ALIEN AT ALL IT MIGHT BE IN AN EPISODE THO AND IT SHOULD BE LISTED INSTEAD OF A VAGUE LIE LIKE 'THE LAST EPISODE' NEED ALOT MORE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE ANIMATED SERIES ARTICLE AND THIS 1 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.186.100.173 (talk) 05:06, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Eh? Bob talk 19:24, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

I have no idea what this comment is all about, but it is completely irrelervent to this article. trainfan01 —Preceding undated comment added 03:56, 2 June 2010 (UTC).

This article has multiple issues

"The film was then released nation-wide in North America on August 24, 2007." What moron wrote this? Since when is North America a "nation"? OMGWTFLOL.

There was perhaps something else that caught my eye too, but I forgot that already. The related episode page is as worse as this with Bean 'featuring in a music video featured in a movie'. Maybe we should ban England from editing Wikipedia...

Then the article tells us that the series was "produced by Tiger Television for the ITV network by Thames Television" - what does this mean? I don't understand this horrible excuse of a proper sentence. There is a double-by without explanation. --84.249.164.59 (talk) 13:08, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

You have to remember that this article and its related episode page are about a series which is popular with, shall we say, "younger" editors (see the section above), so as a result often ends up being altered without much attention being paid to sentence construction by a multitude of different editors. Over time, this leads to mistakes.
Incidentally, the final "produced by Tiger Television for the ITV network by Thames Television" does make sense if you know the context - it means that it was made by a production company called Tiger Television for the London weekday broadcaster Thames TV, who in turn syndicated it to the UK-wide Independent Television (Channel 3) network. Episodes

Shouldn't these be referred to as programs with different episodes within them or different skits? There are more than 14 "episodes/programs". It's kind of misleading... Jon the editor (talk) 03:57, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Semi-Protection

Thanks for semi-protecting this page. This page gets a hell of a lot of childish vandalism from anonymous IPs and single-purpose accounts all the time (goes with the territory, I suppose). I don't suppose it could be semi-protected for a little longer than August 24th could it, please? I'm a bit sick of reverting it all the time. Of the last 500 edits, as far as I can tell there have been no contructive edits from IP addresses whatsoever. Bob talk 09:27, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

is mr bean dead?

is mr bean dead? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.96.229.85 (talk) 07:35, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Well, the last film was supposed to be his last appearance. I don't think he is meant to be "dead" as such. Would have made an interesting end to the series, though... Bob talk 10:48, 28 November 2009 (UTC)

Julian Bream

The article says:

Atkinson has said at the time of the first film's release that he imagines Bean's first name to be Julian, thus making Julian Bean a reference to famous guitarist and lutenist Julian Bream.

Does this mean that Atkinson himself made the connection between Julian Bean and Julian Bream, or is this a connection made by an overly enthusiastic editor? Looking at the article history, the addition was made here by an editor who made numerous edits to numerous articles, all seeming perfectly legitimate. Still, it would be good to see some sort of a reference for this. JBarta (talk) 11:17, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

The Mini

I've added more text to this section. I have seen The Best of Mr. Bean twice now and decided that this information should be added to the article. After the tank crushed the mini, its condition was beyond repair. Seeing the undamaged mini parts in Mr. Bean's loft was very clear. I actually find the end of that episode rather emotional. I also think there should be a separate article for The Best of Mr. Bean, but I cannot do it alone. Any opinions and help are appreciated. High Orbit (talk) 23:45, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

The car on display

According to image searches for this museum on Flickr [1] and TripAdvisor[2] there are images showing the mini car on display (likely the one that was used in filming) at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, UK. Should we add that to the car section. trainfan01

I have inserted it into this section. If anything is wrong about this, feel free to discuss here. trainfan01 20:12, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

The Best Of Mr. Bean

I requested help for confirming the information for this article. Instead, I received a message saying that the article had been nominated for deletion, which it was shortly afterwards. I think The Best of Mr. Bean should have its own article (I clearly state this above in The Mini section). I may occasionally find it hard to supply references and links, but I asked for help with supplying that information with The Best Of Mr. Bean. I did not ask for any nominations for deletion. Is any help too much to ask? High Orbit (talk) 15:33, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

As The Best of Mr. Bean is essentially just a compilation episode/video of sketches from other episodes in the series, it's not really important enough to have its own article. It currently redirects to the List of Mr. Bean episodes, which should be ok. Bob talk 15:50, 21 August 2010 (UTC)

IMDB link

There is a reference here on this page that links to the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) Mr. Bean trivia page. I have tagged it as being possibly unreliable in this edit because IMDB is not considerably a reliable source. Someone has removed the tag in this edit with no appropriate explanation in the edit summary. I have inserted it back in again in this edit since the link is still the same and no improvement has been done. While it is okay when using it as an an external link (like we have done on many other TV shows), it is certainly not an official source for referencing at all (especially since IMDB never links any of there trivia). trainfan01 Serptember 6, 2010 (UTC)

It has been replaced now with the quiz page on the official website. trainfan01 13:57, September 6, 2010 (UTC)

M.r Bean room 426

Mr.Bean is a very funny show by Rowan Atkinson and he has done very well in the past.. His show i must say i have been watching for the last few days because i have been sick and i think watching Mr.Bean has made me feel better. My favorite episode is Room 426. I found it very FUNNY! :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Caity-leela (talkcontribs) 02:57, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

It is nice to hear that, but still be aware of WP:FORUM which this comment clearly consists of. trainfan01 trainfan01 19:27, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

Mini car as a character

I don't really see why the car should be classified as a character. Anything that has no face or doesn't talk or has no personality is not considered a character. In fact in an edit on another page that happened recently the user suggested it should be removed from there (I had mentioned it in an earlier edit on the same page. Perhaps merge all that info into the subheaded Mr. Bean (character) section? trainfan01 talk 19:34, November 4, 2010 (UTC)

"Childish" vs. "Slow-witted"

I do not think that "slow-witted" accurately describes Mr. Bean. Quite the contrary, he often devises clever solutions to accommodate his lack of understanding of social mores. These solutions are often awkward and therefore comical, but they cannot be described as lacking intelligence. What he lacks is a balanced perspective of the world. When viewed through the skewed lens through which Mr. Bean views the world, his actions are in fact shrewd, even cunning, given the slightly malevolent spirit of Mr. Bean (as has been acknowledged by Rowan Atkinson). Mr. Bean is a complex character, and to call him "slow-witted" is a gross simplification and misunderstanding of his actions in ignorance of the deep undercurrents influencing his behavior. "Childish" accurately encompasses both his ignorance of society's ways and his shrewd way of dealing with situations. --Baekken (talk) 16:40, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Yes, you're right, it always used to say "childish" - thanks for reverting. Bob talk 21:07, 30 April 2011 (UTC)
