Gürcü Hatun[edit]

Claude Cahen in his Pre-Ottoman Turkey says the pervāne Mu’īn al-Dīn married Kaykhusraw's widow (p.204). He refers to her as Georgian but uses neither the name Tamar or Gürcü Hatun.

The title "Pervane"[edit]

Cahen also writes of the origin of the title pervāne, suggesting that it is related to a functionary in Mongol Iran called pervāneji. The original role of the pervāne among the Seljuqs of Rūm was to carry personal messages and distribute favors (p. 221-222). I know that pervane means “propeller” of “flywheel” in Turkish. See for translations of pervane. Pervane (Today!!! if we dont use mechanically, let say for a people;) means a small moth/butterfly -especially a specific one which goes around light at night. Propeller was not invented at that time. Regards.Must.^T ^C 14:49, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

But that would mean "prevane" is the title of an office, not a personal name. Which would confirm what I have read, where various individuals in Turkish Anatolia in the 13th-15th centuries. I'm inclined to have this article moved to Mu‘in al-Din Suleyman. -- llywrch (talk) 23:13, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Name change[edit]

We can change the name to Pervane by the way, Beylik of Pervane for example, instead of Pervâneoğlu if it's too Turkish. It'll help for the google hits also. Regards. Cretanforever 15:56, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beylik or biography[edit]

I would like to develop this article as a biography of Pervane Mu‘in al-Din Suleyman rather than as a history of his short-lived dynasty. The Pervane was the most powerful figure in Anatolia during the second half of the 13th century and should have his own article. To this end I would like to make the following changes: 1. create an article for the Gazi Çelebi. 2. remove Pervâne from Template:Seljuk Sultanate of Rum and Turkish Beyliks and Anatolian Turkish Beyliks. In the interest of preserving the integrity of the lists at both Template:Seljuk Sultanate of Rum and Turkish Beyliks and Anatolian Turkish Beyliks, I will change the redirect page Pervâneoğlu into a stub article about the beylik. Pervâne will become a biographical article. I believe the same solution might work at Sâhib Ata, where an article entitled Sâhipataoğlu about the short-lived principality will need to be created.
