1983 AFC Championship Game[edit]

Please stop changing the year of the 1983 AFC Championship Game which took place between the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets in 1983 to 1982. Although it did take place following the 1982 season, it happened during the 1982-1983 NFL playoffs AND it is common practice to refer to championship games in the year they occurred. For example, the 1983 Super Bowl is the Super Bowl that happened one week after the 1983 AFC Championship Game. 71.191.140.123 (talk) 04:05, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

look, for the last time, the game took place in JANUARY OF 1983, but, the game is part of the year the season was played, so get you facts straight, obviously, from your knowledge you do not know anything about football.. see The Drive http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80609333&template=with-video&confirm=true and you will figure it out eventually, son.

listen, the Super Bowl occured in the year of 1983, in which the AFC title game symbolizes the 1982 NFL Season, Think, listen.....Watch NFL network, ESPN.

I'm not being a jerk or anything but it's not good that you dont know the NFL in my opinion in this case the opinion is right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.209.145.124 (talk) 19:37, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First thing, you are doing a bad job of "not being a jerk" by assuming I "do not know anything about football" and by dismissively calling me "son." Second, I am well aware that the NFL uses the year in which a season started to refer to the playoffs and Super Bowl (http://www.nfl.com/history/standings/1982) however as I have already explained Wikipedia DOES NOT DO THIS. Wikipedia uses the year to describe WHEN it took place NOT in what season it took place. Understand that I'm not arguing that this is the right way to do it, I'm just saying that this is obviously the way Wikipedia does it. Since this is apparently contentious I have changed the entry to be more specific and hopefully less confusing. 71.191.140.123 (talk) 04:30, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First I'm think I'm doing an fantastic job, young buck second, I hate to say it, but that revision is better than nothing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.209.143.235 (talk) 16:29, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Actually there never was 1983 Super Bowl there was a Super Bowl 17 well actually xvii, this argument is why the NFL used roman numbers or numbers instead of years for the super bowl. I think of the Jets Dolphins game as being the 1982 AFC championship game. Smith03 (talk) 23:33, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2007 Monday Night Football Game[edit]

What about the Monday Night Football game that was held on November 26, 2007 between the Miami Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Steelers? The Steelers defeated the Dolphins 3-0 with a field goal in the fourth quarter. Abhiramakella (talk) 15:14, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
