Anybody know whether Muqatil ibn Sulayman and Muqatil ibn Hayyan are the same person?

In volume 27 of the SUNY Tabari covering the year 128 (745 CE) the two names occur in the same sentence as two different people. Nevertheless the account of events shows them filling very similar roles. The naive answer would be that they are different people - perhaps there is published research proving they are not.

Expansion[edit]

I believe that the two Muqatil's are different persons, Muqatil ibn Hayyan is referenced many more times in the History. I have added a couple of paragraphs to make Ibn Sulayman's significance clearer. DKleinecke (talk) 22:26, 11 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
