The claim that witness testimony conflicts with Cherkesov's acting in self-defense has no source. The link provided to an English Pravda article only suggests that the Caucasians outnumbered the Russian football fans 8 to 5, and even then, it is not offered as a witness statement but rather as the anonymous posting on a Fratria message board. The entire paragraph should be removed.

In fact, I question the neutrality of much of this article. The language is unusually strong--descriptions of the killing that include the phrase "smashed half of [his head]", the "tragic death," the use of "in clear contrast to the (unnamed) reports..." that prefaces an unsubstantiated "witness" testimony.

There is no reference to the well-documented presence of anti-Caucasian violence and exclusionary nationalist rhetoric at the demonstrations on Manezh and elsewhere in the aftermath of the death (including attacks on dark skinned RF citizens and chants of "Russia for the Russians!) But there is also an unusual amount of information on violence against ethnic Russians by minority groups that is not fully supported by the sources cited. For example, the citation of the article from the 23 Dec 2010 in The Moscow Times is problematic in two ways (1) the article itself questions the statement of the police chief and suggests a theory that Russian officials are deliberately fanning the flames of ethnic tension to push their own agenda. (2) The police chief himself, misquoted also on the wiki page, specifically refuses to give statistics on the ethnicity of criminals--the exact opposite of what the wiki page suggests. He does report that rapes have been higher in recent years, even adding that a high percentage of perps are Central Asians, but does NOT report that these are rapes by Caucasians against ethnic Russians. More importantly, when he does claim that migrants are involved in higher crime rates in Moscow, he makes a point to say that they are non-Muscovite migrants, Russian and non-Russian alike. The attackers Aslan Cherkesov and his friends - none of them are Chechen. Most of them Dagestani (there are dozens of nationalities in Dagestan, so that's not very helpfull).
