2019 comment[edit]

- Does anyone have the outcomes (Busted, Plausible, Confirmed) for the episode list? Nutster (talk) 01:06, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Probable Self Promotion, and request to rectify it.[edit]

In the cast section, under the 'Junior Mythbusters' subheading, Rachel Pizzolato has a substantially more detailed description. All the other people listed have a short description, not exceeding one sentence. Rachel Pizzolato's description did too, prior to February 2019. However, it was edited anonymously to expand greatly beyond the standard of explanation in this subsection. This expansion could be misleading. It may create the illusion that Rachel Pizzolato is much more successful than the other people, due to the extreme difference between achievements listed. The IP address that edited the article has only made one other edit, as of writing, in 2008 on an unrelated article. The IP address is located right outside of New Orleans. Rachel Pizzolato lives in New Orleans. I believe that Rachel Pizzolato may have edited information about herself. This violates Rule 7 in the Essay, 'Ten Simple Rules For Editing Wikipedia', and although the rules are not official, I do believe that it sets the precedent that "Shameless Self-Promotion", which I believe this edit is an example of, is unethical. However, as far as I can tell, the information added in the edit is true. That being said, I still believe that it is unethical, due to it being biased, as the editor only edited that specific part of that subsection, and made no other edit since then, as of writing, on the IP address, and had not in over 10 years. Also, due to the close proximity of the IP Address to the area Rachel Pizzolato lives in, it is probable that it was made by her, or someone that knew her. Since the information is true, however, I would like to gather a few other opinions before I edit the page. Should it be left alone? Should the edit be removed, to align with the standard of explanation? Or should more information be added to the descriptions of the other people in the section, to align the standard of explanation with Rachel Pizzolato's description? And to clarify, I believe personally that the edit should be reverted, to both align with the relevant standard of explanation, and to stay within the spirit of that section of the article, also because the edit may have been made by Rachel Pizzolato herself, which I believe is unethical.
