Nail's name written in Russian?[edit]

I was wondering if someone with Russian language skills could add Nail's name in Russian? I imagine that the Russian Cyrillic used looks similar to how it looks on the pages for Vladimir Tarasenko or Evgeny Kuznetsov. I found the characters Якупов Наиль here but since I don't speak Russian I can't be sure that's how to write his name. Ho-ju-96 (talk) 17:48, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Someone tried this before. Unfortunately, being an English encyclopedia, not very many readers of the article would be able to understand it, and thus I don't believe it contributes to the article any. (I believe I deleted the addition, for the record.)
With that said, if the Russian Wiki includes an article with that as the title, it would be fully expected to look like the Russian lettering. Granted I can't read Russian, I have no idea. If the article DOES exist, however, it can be linked to this article (see for instance the French link). CycloneGU (talk) 01:34, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

First NHL player born in the Russian Federation?[edit]

Getting ahead of ourselves a bit, but since it's a safe assumption that he will be making the NHL, will/would he be the first player born in post-Soviet Russia to do so? Hockey-Reference.com has no record of a player who was born in the Russian Federation, though it does have three pre-Soviet Russian born players erroneously categorized as such. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.69.173.239 (talk) 02:09, 21 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

By my count, twelve have already been drafted: Stanislav Galiev, Kirill Kabanov, Alexander Khokhlachev, Yaroslav Kosov, Nikita Kucherov, Evgeny Kuznetsov, Alexei Marchenko, Vladislav Namestnikov, Nikita Nesterov, Andrei Pedan, Maxim Shalunov, and Ivan Telegin. Wouldn't be surprised if one or two of those guys are in the NHL next year, so maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions. 70.79.198.253 (talk) 02:03, 28 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Religion[edit]

Is it really necessary to mention his religion? It shouldn't really matter whenther he is christian, pagan, buddhist, muslim and, if you look at Nazem Kadri's page, it is not mentioned untilt he bottom of the page under "personal life". Norum 05:42, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hockeydraft.ca doesn't look like a reliable source. If the lead were longer, and the article more comprehensive, I could see the material in the lead, but the whole thing is very much a work in progress right now. Canada Hky (talk) 18:58, 24 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I think the reference to the religion should be removed as it isn't really of an importance to have it up top. Norum 23:29, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It obviously shouldn't be there but obvious that's not stopping certain biased persons from re-adding it --99.255.146.18 (talk) 00:39, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I would say that in the lead his religion is not necessary, as it is far from a defining characteristic of Yakupov. However if/when a personal life section is created, then it would very much be appropriate to include there, as it is a personal aspect of his life, and something that any comprehensive encylopedia would/should include, provided there are accurate, reliable sources confirming it. Definitely belongs in the article. Maybe not the lead but it certainly belongs in the article and there are sources confirming it so it does belong. -DJSasso (talk) 11:27, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, though definitely not in the lead, unless the media makes a very big deal out of his being a Muslim hockey player. Better sourcing is needed as well, as oilersnation is not a RS either. Resolute 13:58, 22 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
