This page seems to have been written by a business to provide a link to their site[edit]

Observations:

1) There are editing artifacts which suggest that the same person (Napkinrings) wrote this page as the owners of the commercial site http://www.napkinrings.mono.net/ which is referenced at the bottom.

2) The purpose of this article seems to be to direct readers to high priced collectors items, rather than be historically complete. It seems reasonable that napkin rings may have originated not long after napkins were introduced, and used whatever materials were at hand: clay, rope, fabric, metal, wood, ivory, etc.

3) There are no citations in the Wiki article, and the claims, such as those in the opening sentences, seem peculiar in various respects. (What for example, is "made from skewer"?) Alpha Ralpha Boulevard 09:32, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
