Boxes[edit]

What are the clicks (dc, nc, dq, nq, dx, nx, dtc, ntc) supposed to look like in IPA? I can see the click symbols okay, but before them is boxes. — Æµ§œš¹ _{[aɪm ˈfɻɛ̃ⁿdˡi]} 04:49, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds like a font problem in your browser, but I'm not sure how to fix it. The clicks with 'd' should have a superscript g before them (for voicing), and the ones with 'n' should have superscript ŋ (for nasality). The clicks followed by 'x' have a following χ (for uvular frication), and the ones with ' should be followed by a superscript ʔ (glottal stop).

Sounds like unlikely characters for people's computers. Per the way other language pages represent click consonants, I've partly corrected the article so it can display for more people. If we want such superscript characters, we should use <sup></sup> tags (e.g. ^ŋ).
