Structural revisions[edit]

I have attempted to give a definite structure to the Nashik article and hope that now it can expand within the set framework. There is a need to create separate articles for subjects which are consuming undue space e.g. Nashik: Mythological references. The long lists of 'things' definitely need a second look e.g. Areas of Nashik. Such articles are seen and read by any and everybody around the world and it is important that correct and precise information be given! —Preceding unsigned comment added by AnandKatgaonkar (talkcontribs) 11:54, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. More such sections are getting added one namely revolutionary activities. @AnandKatgaonkar 122.170.118.188 (talk) 04:33, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

My reversions[edit]

My reversions are due to the facts that:

  • it should be postal code, not postal_code
  • there are some redundant linebreaks
  • use bullets, not manual linebreaks, to create lists
  • the "Local News of Nashik" section reads like an advertisement. See WP:ADVERT.
  • "km" is spelled with lowercase letters, not "Km"
  • the "Travel to Nashik" does not only read like an advertisement (see WP:ADVERT), it's also generally unencyclopedic. It should be written on Wikitravel instead.
  • the external links are redundant. See WP:LINKS.

As thus, I will keep reverting it. If you disagree; I suggest you explain why on this talk page, or consider requiring a Wikipedia:Third Opinion. Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 16:40, 25 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Jobjörn don't force your personal opinion on Nashik community. Links of 'Local News of Nashik' are informative to related people of Nashik City. If you are disagree with this leave it as it is. This is not your personal page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 59.95.7.238 (talkcontribs).
Uh. Did you even read what I wrote? I'm taking in some other editors. By the way, I am not from Nashik, I am from Visby. Jobjörn (Talk ° contribs) 11:30, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nasik city article[edit]

According article Nasik was in hands of Moghul Empire fom 1487 to 1818. I want to know how the Moghul Empire, stablished in 1526, can take the power in a city 40 years before?. I change the date according Imperial Gazeteeer, to 1636. The end of moghul rule was 1760, also according sama source. --88.19.49.50 (talk) 20:52, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Too may red links[edit]

There are too many red links in the article. --Extra999 (talk) 00:00, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the article is messed up. Two to three sections like Multiplexes, Cityscape are unneccessary. The article requires lot of cleaning to match other city articles of India. WorLD8115(TalK) 18:49, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

About Cityscape

Let us look at articles such as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_City In my opinion the very structure is common for all cities which is Background, Index, Geography, Cityscape, Culture, Economy, Demography, Government, Education, Transportation need not be challenged as all these are essential ingredients which form the image of the city and more than that it is a fairly established format of many better articles.

As for multiplexes they could be quick list under culture inside entertainment. Also one must understand that significance of such things is with local pier reference i.e. a 7 screen cinema might be insignificant for a Newyork but it tends to become encyclopedic for a emerging city might Nashik. Let us debate such things. AnandKatgaonkar (talk) 05:49, 29 March 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by AnandKatgaonkar (talkcontribs) 05:46, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Biggest Marketplace?[edit]

In history section, it is mentioned that "Nashik in 150 BC was believed to be the country's largest marketplace". This is very doubtful, unverifiable. The source sited also contains many unhistorical statements. Neither gives any source for this 'biggest marketplace' claim —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chaundeshwari (talkcontribs) 07:40, 31 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Niraj Kulkarni hoax[edit]

Hi folks,

This is a quick heads up. I've recently been trying to deal with somebody repeatedly adding references to a video game developer named Niraj Kulkarni, hailing from Nashik, with a 'claim to fame' being award winning design work on Crysis. Unfortunately, this AfD found that nobody by this name ever worked on Crysis or is even a recognised game designer, making this most likely a case of a self-promotional hoax. I've been playing a protracted game of whack-a-mole against somebody who keeps readding it (most recently Chimanya (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · edit filter log · block user · block log)), but it sometimes slips through the net, so more eyes on the lookout will definitely help keep this problem under control.

Copyedit temp 11 April 2013[edit]

I have added a copyedit temp as much needs to be done to make this article encyclopedic in tone, grammar and style. If this is not done before May, the Guild of Copyeditors' May Drive could pick-up on it. Much of the problem with this page comes from unreliable and unreferenced additions from IP addresses. Directory-like listings[edit]

This article as it currently stands has issues with the numerous sections that are nothing but tables with endless lists of institutions/organisations that are unsourced and less informative than information anyone can easily find out on the Internet. Wikipedia is not a directory and I will prune these sections as well as the empty ones. May I suggest that editors wishing to expand does that in well sourced prose and in their sandboxes before adding to the article. Thanks. -- Sam Sing! 12:57, 25 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Education[edit]

K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research, Nashik (KKWIEER) is the oldest engineering college in Nashik.

It is a self-financed, privately managed college recognized by AICTE, adjudged in “A” grade by the Govt. of Maharashtra and affiliated to Pune University.[citation needed] K. K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research was established in 1984 and is located at Hirabai Haridas Vidyanagari in scenic environment surrounded by lush green trees. The college is spread over area of 10 hectares and offers Bachelor degree programmes in Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication, Mechanical, Production, Computer, Civil, Chemical Engineering & Information Technology. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chiragvlunkad (talkcontribs) 13:14, 30 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello all[edit]

Your enthusiasm is appreciated, but Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, not a local bulletin board or a tourist brochure, or an indiscriminate collection of information. So we do not include everything there is to know about Nashik, just like we don't include everything there is to know about other cities around the world, only vital facts and major points of interest, things that are of interest also to readers in other parts of India, or other countries. I have already cleaned out lists of shops, hotels and schools, and intend to also clean out the section about every conceivable kind of food that is eaten in Nashik, because trivial information like that does not belong in an encyclopaedia. Thank you. Thomas.W talk 20:01, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think we need to highlight the right authorities in the Industry section[edit]

Hello People,

As this is the official Nashik page, we are missing references for the right authorities for the industry section. Like for Manufacturing, NIMA, AIMA is not referenced . For IT , NITA is not referenced and linked. We should add these and link them so that people can approach the right authorities for their sectors.

Title spelling errors[edit]

Hi Trappist the monk, do you believe there is a consensus to make corrections to cite titles which contain spelling errors? I have interpreted MOS:PMC as referring to article text (this is in reference to your edit here where you modified my edit which had placed a [sic] tag on a cite title error). If there is general agreement that titles may be corrected then it should be explicitly documented to prevent confusion. Neils51 (talk) 09:21, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
