merge/reconfigure with separate Zion NRHP list?[edit]

There are more than 20 NRHPs covered in separate National Register of Historic Places listings in Zion National Park list, that are also all listed here, in pretty much the same form. Would it be best to merge that to be a section here, and have Zion vs. all other sections? Or have in two separate articles, but reduce the coverage in this one to just cover the non-Zion ones, and link to the Zion article? I would somewhat prefer the first option. This situation is like that for many other county list-articles, where a group of listings (usually a town or city) is split out to a separate section or a separate list-article. We can eliminate some duplication, focus editor attention on building descriptions, etc. in just one place for each item. --doncram 16:28, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Only a very small part of Zion National Park extends north out of Washington County, Utah into Iron County, Utah. Can see from Mapquest which shows county lines and shows as a green area the bounds of Zion. Zion having that shape is confirmed by this NPS map (which does not show county lines). The area north is only small part north of Horse Ranch Mountain's peak, i.e. the northernmost one mile approximately. Probably all the NRHP-listed places are within Washington county. --doncram 22:20, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed the current Zion list's coordinates are all within the main Zion canyon area or east of it, none anywhere remotely near the upper left part of ZNP, the Kolob Canyons area, of which only the very top part extends out. So, it seems to me that all of the NRHPs are within Washington county, and that is not likely to change, and the Zion list can be included as a section in the Washington county list. --doncram 22:25, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're right, the Zion list could be possibly be turned into a redirect to Washington County. It would be nice if the descriptions in the Washington County article mentioned the park, since the intention for the park lists is to highlight Park Service NRHP sites. Thanks. I've just gone with what seems to be the least change: removing the 28 Zion entries from the Washington County list-article, and linking from there to the separate Zion NRHP list-article. I compared the two list-articles item by item, first, and see that there is no loss of info, just removal of duplication. It would be okay by me if anyone wanted to move the separate Zion list into the Washington county page, in a separate section, but actually now I think 2 separate pages is mildly better. --doncram 23:21, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Crawford Irrigation Canal[edit]

The location described for Crawford Irrigation Canal (currently a redlink) in this list-article place it partly or perhaps even wholly within Zion National Park. For example, the intersection of Oak Creek with the Virgin River can be seen within Google maps. Can it be confirmed that part of it (and how much) lies outside ZNP? Either this item should be entirely moved to the separate National Register of Historic Places listings in Zion National Park article, or it should be duplicated there. --doncram 01:24, 31 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
