Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because the case of Nazeri had impact on his family, especially the sister who decided to advocate against the death penalty. It also spark a debate over the alleged racial discrimination brought by the death penalty and Nazeri kept insisting that he was partially innocent since he claimed he meant to keep most of the drugs for his own use (which the courts found otherwise). His case was part of the ongoing anti-death penalty movement in Singapore that has been attracting attention internationally. The unique nature of his case is the reason why I feel he should have his story included in Wikipedia. No hard feelings here. --NelsonLee20042020 (talk) 00:37, 22 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That's just a weak and silly response. Which execution will not have a profound effect on the criminal's family? At this rate, you are going to have articles for every condemned criminal in Singapore. Is this even necessary if executions are considered routine in Singapore? The article author, unsurprisingly, cannot give a response on why this criminal is counted as someone "notable" other than because he executions has a profound impact on this family. Is such reasons even acceptable to justify the creation of a new article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by SecretSquirrel78 (talkcontribs) 16:11, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@SecretSquirrel78 If you think the article failed notability, do feel free to nominate it for deletion. Based on your edit history, your comment here is borderline personal attack. If you do not ping @NelsonLee20042020 here, Nelson would not have known you have replied here and may reply if he wanted to. Note that nobody has to reply to every single message posted to them.
Also, Nelson had clearly indicated that "It also spark a debate over the alleged racial discrimination brought by the death penalty" which may have lasting impact, which at this point is arguable. We can let other editors at AFD to see is it too soon or otherwise. To claim that he only explained "counted as someone "notable" other than because he executions has a profound impact on this family" is cherry picking and not helping your case.
