Lack of citations in this article[edit]

Though this is a well-written article and generally achieves the kind of thoroughness necessary for this subject, it lacks references. Even if the sources are in Arabic, they should be listed so that those interested in this subject or its broader categories, such as the People's Party of Syria, the Syrian Republic, ect., may follow up on their own. As it stands there are many instances where claims are made, such as the claim that the Hashemites funded the People's Party, which simply have no basis in the English language literature on the subject. Besides enabling researchers to do their own follow up, even lay readers may be able to see a source and decide if that source is indeed reliable or not. Syrian history is a developing field in the West, and it should be treated with some care, as there are not that many experts who can refute inaccurate or misleading claims.
