Anachronistic name[edit]

I just corrected the sentence saying that Pierre L'Enfant named Near Northeast as "Old City #1". It's only referred to as the Old City #1 because it was included in old L'Enfant's plan. There was no city for L'Enfant to label as "old". --Blahblah29 (talk) 13:47, 25 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Damnit[edit]

Nobody can get the nomenclature of this particular entry right. Here is how it works: · Residents of the area talking to other bona fide District taxpayers say they live in "Near Northeast" · Residents of the area talking to outsiders who have some understanding of the District say they live in "Northeast" · Residents of the area talking to outsiders who have no understanding of the District but have heard of the gentrification say they "live off H Street" · Realtors, developers, and others with financial interest in the area but no personal interest will call it "Capitol Hill North", "The Atlas District", or "NoMa" (despite NoMa being on the other side of what was Delaware Avenue). · On paper (including L'Enfant's various documents and recorded deeds) the area is considered "Old City". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.32.107.150 (talk) 20:11, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I revised several portions of the article to alleviate frustration. The neighborhood has taken on a variety of terms, some used for marketing and others for distinction. It will be interesting to see, in 20-30 years, which name remains.--Ge0rgetown (talk) 18:57, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
the map is identical to atlas district, (and i heard a suggestion of H Street district) merge and redirect? is Atlas district a better name? maybe the consensus here will prevail in 20 years? Slowking4 †@1₭ 19:37, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
