The Dutch terminology appears to be extremely similar to English for some certifications. If you use a Dutch name please use the full officieal Dutch name in italics so it is clear that it isn't a mixture of languages. Thanks, • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 07:06, 6 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming of article[edit]

Filipid011, You changed the article title without discussion from the official name of the organisation as used on its website to a translation. Please show how this complies with Wikipedia:Naming conventions (companies), or other relevant guidance, including evidence that the translation you have chosen is the correct one. Please ping with reply. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 03:16, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Two months with no reply.
Does anyone else have an opinion on whether the rename is valid and an improvement? An opinion from someone fluent in the Dutch language on the most appropriate English translation of the word Bond in this context would be particularly useful. I am familiar with Afrikaans, which uses the same word in similar contexts, but there may be subtle differences that I do not recognise. The use of "Dutch" as a translation for Nederlandse in this context is also open to discussion. Cheers, · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 08:11, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
See precedent for retaining official names at:
A quick Google search comes up with 218 hits for "Dutch Underwater Sports Association", several of them on Wikipedias and mirrors, "Dutch Underwater Sports Federation" gets 116 hits, "Netherlands Underwater Sports Association" gets 5, while a search for "Nederlandse Onderwatersport Bond" gets some 44500 hits. I am inclined to revert to the official name if no-one responds, with the option of changing to the translation if a consensus or existing guidance is found. · · · Peter Southwood (talk): 09:52, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
