To maintain factual integrity, I propose that this page be moved to Lakshmi_Narayan_Sharma, Neem Karoli Baba's birthname, and this page redirect to that new page. Please discuss.

• Oppose - the subject is best known by the name Neem Karoli Baba and is refered to by this name in all books about and referencing him. By way of Google, "Lakshmi Narayan Sharma" returns 87 hits [1] and "Neem Karoli Baba" returns 45,500 [2]. All his ashrams and endowments bear the name Neem Karoli Baba. —Hanuman Das 14:22, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Neeb Karori Baba → Neem Karoli Baba – the requested name is the more usual spelling and is attested in works by Ram Dass and Dada Mukerjee -- Adityanath 17:36, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

• Support, this is the more usual spelling in English-speaking countries and should therefore be used on the English language Wikipedia. Google shows about 46,000 hits for "Neem Karoli Baba" [3] vs. 270 hits for "Neeb Karori Baba" [4]. The spelling "Neem Karoli Baba" is even used in India when written in English. I have a recent photo of my sister-in-law in front of one of his ashrams (Vrindavan, I think) in India and the sign says "Neem Karoli Baba." —Adityanath 18:05, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

Re Sainthood

LordSuryaofShropshire, I removed the assertion that Neem Karoli Baba is a "saint" because this is POV and not a fact. Andries 20:13, 31 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Speaking as someone who was blessed with Maharaji's Darshan in Kainchi in 1973, I can state with full certainty HE IS A SAINT. LordSuryaofShropshire should not take it upon himself to judge without experience.

People keep trotting out the story that Neem Karoli Baba took LSD without effect when Ram Dass gave it to him. Baba was not soft on drugs--he hated drugs. The first rule at his ashram in India is "Don't take intoxicants" that is the real Baba.

The publisher for the edition being quoted on the page is Hanuman Foundation. The ISBN has been changed to match this edition.

Steve Jobs

Ram Dass and LSD?

Is this the guru whom which was given an incremental and extraordinary dose of the hallucinogen LSD by Ram Dass- only to report no effect due to his complete connection with 'the All' and therefore complete control over his own mental state/existence on this plane?
