Jack Lockett (my father) alway's called Neerim North,God's own country. We were alway's last to go dry & the first come back green. Not a bad address this,it can get a bit cold & cruel,but we are at the foot of Mt Baw Baw. My Dad always maintained that we were the highest point between Mt Worth & Mt Baw Baw. The high rainfall & red soil provide brilliant brillant dairying & potatoe country. The primary school was closed at the end of 1975. Now,the schoolgrounds are the H.F McCay arboretum. Opposite the schoolgrounds is the war memorial,that those born in & enlisted in Neerim North are remembered on a bluestone memorial. This is the site of the of the Neerim North Soldier's Memerial Hall. The hall was dismanted in 1981,so the memorial was erected. I was born here,i work here on the family farm. In the spring we milk 400 cows and get serious production out of them. I love Neerim North,the wonderful secuded place that it is.
