Stage work?[edit]

Proposal: Include Nick Persoff's stage career too. I believe that he did some summer theater in the 1970's and I saw him stand in for some unknown actor in "Cages" starring Shelly Winters, theater in the park, Philadelphia, c. 1974. Does a playbill count as a 2ndary source or is that primary? Further problem, he was standing in, so it has his autograph, but he is not actually listed in print.Henrysteinberger (talk) 15:09, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Origins[edit]

"Palestinian" has a specific meaning today. Shouldn't a term more accurate to our usage be found? Nelamm (talk) 07:06, 18 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

On Jerusalem, Mandatory Palestine[edit]

In Mandatory Palestine it says:

Mandatory Palestine[...] was a geopolitical entity established between 1920 and 1948 in the region of Palestine under the terms of the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine.

Persoff was born on August 2, 1919, presumably BEFORE Mandatory Palestine was established. So my question is:

Is Mandatory Palestine still what it was called at the time? The New York Times reference just says:

Nehemiah Persoff was born in Jerusalem on Aug. 2, 1919, during the years when the territory was transitioning from Ottoman rule to a British mandate.

The transitioning territory was called the Occupied Enemy Territory Administration. I'll adjust the opening line about his birthplace.Sean Barnett (talk) 23:50, 10 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Late in Persoff's career,he toured in a one-man show about Jewish author Sholem Aleichem;whose stories were the basis for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. The play never came to New York, but I saw it in Boston;built into a theatre at the downtown YMCA. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.23.5.11 (talk) 19:42, 17 November 2022 (UTC) 2804:F14:C060:8A01:44CA:6E00:BBE0:33A (talk) 08:35, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
