Proposed deletion[edit]

Regarding the deletion proposal created by IP user 94.207.168.15, I would like to note my objection. The subject has been featured in a number of independently written articles by major sources including the BBC, WalesOnline, TechNation, the University of Oxford, the Western Mail, the National Assembly for Wales as well as the Welsh Government.

I recognise Cocker's business career is not particularly high profile, but I think he does serve as the preeminent figure in the Cardiff area on the city's tech industry and indeed the wider start up industry in Wales. This is indicated by his contributions to the likes of the BBC and other news outlets, as well as his profile in the Cardiff music scene evidenced by contributions to the National Assembly's Youth Entrepreneurship Inquiry and Community Music Wales. His events, such as Cardiff Start, TEDx Cardiff, and others, have all been well attended, and have a high profile in the region.

I also appreciate the inclusion of awards and his business names could read to some as self-promotional, but they are written as impartially as I can be, though I am more than happy if any editors want to revisit the article and try to make it more independent.

TL;DR, I think he's a close pass for WP:GNG due to his citation in national business and news outlets, and has made contributions to reputable organisations such as the Welsh Assembly and Welsh Government which indicate the subject has a notability in the region for a specialist subject (why would he otherwise be invited to consult for panels and hearings by the Welsh Government).

I am also a little curious why the deletion proposer, 94.207.168.15 (talk) has never made edits to any other Wikipedia articles? Gwrandewch (talk) 12:26, 7 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
