Free Jazz?[edit]

No way. Stetson hardly improvises at all during his pieces, as far as I am aware they are very carefully composed and not played with much variation at all between different performances of the same compositions. It's barely even jazz, let alone free jazz. Experimental jazz, maybe. From the little I know about free jazz, improvisation seems basically essential to the genre so I don't think this album could fit.
