Matt Taibbi[edit]

Should include information from the Matt Taibbi article: Taibbi left the NY Press in August 2005, shortly after his editor Jeff Koyen had quit in an unrelated disagreement with the paper's publisher Chris Rohland

New Articles[edit]

Created four stubs about prominent NYP writers mentioned in this article-including the four who resigned en masse during the Mohammed cartoon controversy-within the past few days.
There should probably also be an article about The Blade and Ward Sutton as well. Ruthfulbarbarity 00:01, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:COVER437.jpg[edit]

Image:COVER437.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:02, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

writers[edit]

There is no policy that it is necessary for an author to be notable enough for a personal Wikipedia article to be included in article content, when pertinent and sourced.I have therefore restored the information about the contributions of some writers that was just removed here. Please discuss and get consensus before deleting it again. DGG (talk) 08:45, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I recently removed the link and reference to Alan Cabal from this article after his own article was deleted due to lack of notability. I came here to remove the red link, but found he was only included in a list of notable writers for NYP. As notability couldn't be established at AfD/DRV (linked from the redlink above) I decided to simply remove his name. DGG reverted my edit, so I thought it would be best to open the floor. I feel as he isn't notable that his name probably shouldn't be included, but I don't feel strongly. I have though removed the red link. What do regular editors here think? Yours, Verbal chat 10:39, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

notability is not the test for inclusion in an article, just for having a separate article. As for delinking the name, certainly. I should have done it when I restored the material, but I didn't think of it. Given various discussion on a remarkably wide variety of places, probably this problem should be deferred until it can be seen whether or not there actually will be an article after all. But the principle applies to the other people mentioned there without articles also. My own view is that sufficiently major contributors should be at least mentioned. Cleanup[edit]

Claims of influence on The Village Voice were unsourced, so I removed them. One of them had a citation, but it the article turned out to merely be a story about how The Village Voice was converting to a free model. It had absolutely nothing in it about the New York Press. If someone can find a source that says that the Press was the reason why the Voice converted to a free model, then it can obviously be added back.
